Has anyone ever tried starting a petition or gone to court over the lift pump issue?

I think there are enough angry people out there to make a difference. I also think that the average Joe needs to be better informed of this problem. TOO MANY people out there have no clue that they're driving a time bomb. Us, as TDR members, are only a small portion of the people who drive Cummins ISB powered Rams!

Something needs to be done, Cummins needs to come up with an updated system, and our current lift pumps need to be recalled!

Identify the cause

I am by no means a lawyer but I think the problem needs to be identified before any legal action can be taken. I would be willing to donate $10. 00 or so to some real research conducted by people that are used to doing that kind of thing. There is definetly a problem and dead lift pumps and VP44's are the result. The trick is to pinpoint the cause. I think in the long run this would be much more beneficial than a lawsuit anyway. Maybe we could petition DC to donate to research. Many on this board have theories and good observations but to my knowledge no good research has been done. If so please post the results. ;)

I'm not worried about my lift pump as I am this D*** 53 block. I can replace the L. P for less than $120, but a short block is another issue. The L. P's are a problem. I feel the block is a larger time bomb even though there are alot of them out there that are holding up. Cummins needs to do the right thing and bite the bullet and replace these blocks and yes I agree something needs to be done about the L. P issue as well. Remember you want to go up against two large companies that really just want to make a profit. If we could get Dodge and Cummins to go to Peter at Southbend, he could teach them how to really care about customers and how to respond to any problems they have.

Yes, the 53 block is a big problem also!!!

Anyways, has anyone actually found the true cause? What in the lift pump is failing?

What I Found

Today Was At The Shop Getting The Newest Flash On My Truck And The Tech Was Saying That O5's Would Have Pump Inor At The Tank Can't Rember Which. To Which I Said That May Cause A Law Suit He Said They Are Going To Offer A Retrofit For 98. 5 And Up Don't Know If That Means Dodge Will Pay Or We Will Pay.
