2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Pfft, Pfft, Pfft

Keep getting this strange PFFT noise coming from the stick shift console area. Wondering if anyone has had the same issue and could get me started in the right direction before I just start ripping out the console. Noise can most be heard when coasting to a stop, either in neutral or in gear. Goes away immediately after coming to a stop. Coming from the trans? transfer? Hope someone out there has had the same problem.

A repettative Pffft Noise starting in 2 seccond intervals and time span increases as you slow down? Mine turned out to be my U joints that had failed buuut That is a different deal ..... Maybee.

I hadn't thought of U-joints. I'll check them over this weekend.

Another way to find out if your U-joints are going bad is to coast by a concrete wall or even the concrete barriers. It bounces the sound right back to you.



Concrete walls are great for hearing things you otherwise can't hear.
