I installed water and oil temperature gauges last weekend. I used the autometer phantom II because they were LED and looked like the stock gauges. I've installed many of the Issporo and wanted to try something new. The install was easy, however the Dodge light dimmer won't dim the lights on the gauges. I mounted them in the dual dash pod, so when the lights are on, they are like two headlights shinning at me! Autometer wants to sell me a dimmer module for around $30. 00, but i just unhooked the lights to solve the problem. Be warned of the bright lighting if you don't purchase a dimmer module.

I'm pretty sure there is a cheap way to dim those lights, even if it can't be on the factory dimmer. Maybe a resistor or dimmer inline with the power. I do know that in order to dim the led's you need to reduce the current. I am sure someone on here could shed some light on this subject.

For the record, I would install autometers vs. isspros any day. I had the first version of the phantoms on my 01. Good luck with it.

Yep, had to get the dimmer set up for both of my rigs. I remember when I put the 60# boost gauge in the work truck, I had to keep putting a glove over the darn thing so I could see that night. Looked like a darn spotlight staring right at me. There is a pic of the dimmer thingie in a thread called "Phantom II questions".

opps, ultralight II. but should work the same way. i know my diprocl gauges came with a little reo-stat inline that i took out as well, and just wired to the dimmer.

I had the Phantom II guages in my last truck and wired them to the regular dimmer switch. They were still a little too bright so I ordered the dimmer switch from autometer, but never installed it. If anyone needs it I would let it go for a couple bucks plus the cost of shipping.
