Question about timing tools

The PS62 would be my fist choice for a top turbo on a set of street twins! As far as a bottum turbo I am leaning towards the B2 but the HT3B should be a good choice.

The ht3b is new, bought and paid for. My hx40 needs to be reworked. So for the money do you think I would be better off with a better spool up, lower egt, and cleaner exhaust? Its going on a 24v. Any body know about what I could run for injectors and still tow some light loads, nothing major... ..... I know Jim... "IT NEEDS FUEL" ... ... ...

I talked to HTT and Industrial injection about this and they said the 62/. 7 would work well. I started lookng for turbos and called BD to see what they had. My call was given to the person who designed their twins. He said he would not recommend the 62mm compressor wheel on a secondary turbo. He said there would be surge issues. I have a Bell WSB as a secondary right now. Very small (57mm) inducer, aggressive design. There are no surge issues. The stock wastegate will bypass enough gass to keep the drive pressure down to 1 to 1 at 60psi. The bad side is that it does not seem to work well unless you set the wastegate up to start opening around 25psi. If you set it to start opening at 20 or lower the primary is pretty sluggish. My question is, will the 62/. 7 combo work a little better wastegated down in the 15 to 20 psi range? I know that the gate isn't full open untill 35psi on mine and that is probably causing my egt's to be higher than they should be.

Gating the 62 at 15-17 psi works awesome. At 20 psi it was OK, but still a little laggy. As for the surge, I've never heard of a 62 MM turbo ever having surging. The 64's and 66's have had some cases.

Whatever... ... mine is perfect! Anytime, Anyone, I'll drive you to any parameter you want..... never an issue!

JetPilot... I think we may soon have to try this combo... I just need to find someone to do the fab work, I am DEFINITELY not a welder...

I've been running the Htt 62/12 bht3b/26 combo for about 4 month. I opened up the waste gate on the top turbo and set it at 20 psi it makes about 45 ponds of boost total. Spools hard and pulls strong on the top end. Egts stay around 1200 and have not had any problems with surge. Im real happy with it and cant wait to get the studs in to turn the boost up.

I just installed a 62/12(. 7) above my 3B this morning. Despite the surge warning i got from BD, I have not noticed any surging yet. Spools a bit slower than the 57/12 Bell WSB(no suprise there).

I am not running one right now. The turbo I took off has the exact same exhaust housing. I was ok on drive pressure untill i had the pump bumped up. The extra fuel raised the drive pressure up a bit. Over 70 at 60 psi. It was climbing rapidly and i backed off. I machined a port in my ATS manifold so i can run with or without my external gate. I am going to see how the larger compressor wheel and housing do before I decide whether to put it on or not.

Jetpilot or others, will any of those turbos work with a b1-2 tow(58mm wheel,14 cm housing-i think) in a twin set up,(took your advice last year on the b1-2tow for a single now maybe looking at going to twins :-laf )maybe a ht3b or b-2. Looking for a right combo to 500+hp thats towing friendly.

Put a bht3b/23cm on the bottom and run a gate in the hot pipe. I have ran a few combos and the best all around is the 23cm for in town and towing. I have a boost controlled electical wastegate setup i designed and it works great. (see sig) I think that setup will work great for you.

My 57/12 Bell WSB is alot more responsive. I may keep both for now. The 62 has less drive pressure at 60psi than the 57. But the 57 spools faster. I really noticed it when passing today. The 58 with a 3b or B2 will do 500hp easily. Mine was at 503 on Piers' dyno this summer. It had a Dodgezilla on top then. I added a bit more pump and injectors along with the Bell top turbo. I haven't dyno'd yet but It spins the tires pretty well on dry pavement when it spools up doing a roll on in 4th gear. It wouldn't do that when i got it back this summer. Really good fuel mileage with the smaller charger also. It takes less throttle to get going. I routinely get over 20mpg.
