Photo and graphic editing

I've noticed some really cool doctored up photos from the likes of Bigsaint and CCahill... what do you guys use to make those funny pics?

If you have a big bank account, you can go and get PHOTOSHOP 6. 0.

there are smaller ones with less features but look for a software program that can manipulate photos more than light and dark and basic features. Look for a program that can do layers and text and other neat things.



The photoshop program is $600 I have an old version 4. 0

I use PaintShop Pro 5. 0. You simply open the pic. while running the software, cut and paste the image as a new layer, etc. , lots of fun !!!! I just checked BUY.com, looks like the newest version, 7. 0. is about $80. 00.

I've never posted any doctored photos, but we (company) use Photoshop 6, as well as Repri digital editing workstations. They are unbelievably powerful and fast. The Repri use mulit-processor sysytems on Silicon Graphics platforms. They aint cheap either. The last one was close to $60K. Photoshop works well though, have a small bank account and I always have extra copies laying around .

Tried resizing but couldn't get that to work. Took my pics on high resolution, that just made things worse.



One of these days I'll figure it out.

I purchased, with George's refund a Kodak digital camera and it came with a CD that allows you to save the pictures in various different sizes but it is now a do all, The sizes fit in the paramaters the TDR requires. I tried the scan routing but had trouble getting the size down to the required size.

I use Adobe PhotoShop 4, I have version 5, but each new level has a bunch of new features to learn and I'm tired of learning them. So version 4 is good enough for me.



I also use Paintshop Pro v3. 11 which is 16 bit full feature shareware program. It's quick to load and easy to use, for those quick resizing and file size reductions. I use Paintshop for most of my needs.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page where is says Windows 3. 1x or NT 3. 51. Don't worry, it works in Windows 95 and 98 too.

I,ve got Photoshop 5, A coupla' different Canon programs, MGI Photosuite Platinum, 1or 2 Microsoft imaging programs... . They all do somthing different, and mybe easier..... But my favorite one, and the one I always end up going to is Microsoft Picture it 2000... Easy to learn, less frustrating than Photoshop, although not as powerful... . and easy filesharing...

Theres a bunch of free sites out there... Microsoft, Kodak, your ISP likely gives you storage..... Try Ofoto, or Freeyellow... The problem I've found with some of the photo sharing sites is this... They don't allow 3rd party photo sharing ... lets say you can try to post a photo to a forum and you'll only get the URL, which sometimes ain't all bad... ... .....

Putting up Pics is pretty easy once you know how. Most (if not all) ISP (internet service Providers- who you pay each month for internet service) provide their users with a certain amount of domain or web space on thier servers. It can range anywhere from 3 to 50 megs or more depending on your ISP. Yahoo also has free web space available. Check with yahoo or your ISP to see what you have and how to access the space and upload files to your space.



The space (especially with your ISP) is very similar to a hard drive on the web. When you upload photos to your space, you name them a unique name and the address or URL for that photo is the web location where it can be found. In the TDR forum, you simply need to push the IMG radio button and enter the name for the photo in the space. And Whala! It's that simple.

The Address of your photo (in my case) looks like this:

Everyone at my ISP has the same address, except the username (/dkevdog) will be their name and the file name of course.





Every time the post is viewed (uploaded to another computer) the image is loaded from the webspace address to that users computer. Piece of cake!!



OH and BTW- some ISP's have restrictions on the amount of Bandwith you can use, but that's another lesson for another day. In a nutshell, in english it simply means that you can only download the image from the webspace a certain number of times. Usually not a problem though!

My instructions above assume that you have either a digital camera or a scanner, and know how to get those images to a file. If you use your own web space to park the photo, then you shouldn;t have any real restricitions on size either. Just be kind to those who have slower connections!!!
