I'm thinking about buying some PIAA Xtreme white plus bulbs. What will these bulbs do to the plastic covers? Thanks...

good quality but go for PUTCO

I have PIAA fog light bulbs in my truck. I had PIAA headlight for a couple of years until I drove through a pot hole and ruined one. I ended up pulling them out and reinstalling the Silverstars. The Silverstars are ok. I have found some brighter lights for less than 30 bucks. They are brighter than PIAA lights. I plan to buy these in the near future. I like PIAA lights but when it comes to brighter lights at a cheaper price I will go for the cheaper priced ones. These lights that I have found are PUTCO lights at eautoworks.com

Any bulb that turns the light into a bluecolor actually offers LESS lumen output then a regular bulb, even though they may appear brighter. Link here to read about it--

Stern recommends only the Phillips Xtreme Power bulbs as a real upgrade for the insanely poor headlights on the 2005. The 9007 bulb which I use is not only a poor bulb design, but the optix in the oem reflectors are also terrible. He said it would be the best I could do in a poor situaution, and he was right. The Phillips Xtreme Power DEFINITELY made a solid improvement to my headlights, though I still wish for an HID upgrade.

Stern is the real deal on lighting info, and he feels that the Xtreme Power bulbs, unlike the SilverStars or other Ultra Whites, are an actually improved design. They ceratinly helped me out quite a bit. They are a regular yellow/white light, not the blues which appear brighter, but actually give you LESS light.

Here is a link to the Xtreme Power H13/9007 bulbs that fit your truck, The people at Candlepower Inc which sell the bulbs also have more info, but but I encourage you to check out Sterns site.

PIAA have a lifetime warranty if you keep the plastic package that they came in. In eight years, my guy at the parts place has replaced them once after one stopped working free of charge.

Don't

I had PIAAs for a while, a short while. Burned out after about a year. Replaced 'em with Sylvanias, which are brighter than the PIAAs, and have been going strong for over 3 years now, even with the DRL activated. Bruce

OK, thanks seafish. You mentioned both 9007 and 9008 in an earlier post and I wasn't sure which fits the 2005 truck. I'm dumber that a rock when it comes to electrical stuff. Larry

No problem. ,Larry... just found the comment you are referring to and corrected it... just a typo or link error, but confusing nonetheless!! Thanks for pointing it out.

you can always convert to a projector light system, i had a system like that on my mercury cougar. the kits are available through lmc truck for our rigs.
