I would like some input on headlamp upgrades. Currently looking at the PIAA 9004, are they worth the money, best place to buy, well they melt my lenses, are they to many watts for our system. Any input positive and negative would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all. Dwayne:cool: :D

You should find a bunch of info on this subject if you do a search - provided the threads haven't been canned. Try my user name or PIAA.

I bought a set and returned them. I couldn't justify the cost for the lack of improvement. Some people love them, others think they're over priced. They were ~$80 from autobulbdepot.com

I haven't heard from too many people who were really happy with their $80 light bulbs.

You can get 9004 bulb that are higher wattage. Stock I think is 45/65, and you can get 55/100 or 80/100. Keep in mind they are not DOT aproved like the PIAA's, but they are only about $30/set.

I have the PIAA's in my 96. they did make a difference in the truck, but that was when it was known that the Dodge had poor lighting. i belive the problem was swolved with the dual light in 98' i think. I would not spend my money on the bulbs themselves, but put it towards a good set of driving/fog lights. PIAA makes a quality product and as toolboxes and lights go, you do get what you pay for (usually)

No Way!!!!!!!!!

I have the quad bulb setup and bought the PIAA for all four. Think they are not worth the powder to blow them to HELL. But I didn't feel the need to return them. Use the sylvania Extra Vision. Have heard some good about them though not about to change out $160 in bulbs to try them. :( :(

Cooker, I'm putting another post on higher wattage bulbs. If you could post it would be appreciated:)

Notta

Put a set in the 99 at work, as already stated, "not worth the powder to blow them to hell" LOL

The PIAA's in my 93 aren't really worth the $50 each either. After reading articles posted in a thread last week the white/blue combo really isn't better for anyone, driver or oncoming traffic.

Good article, just can't find the thread to link... Sorry

I recommend the Dodge quad headlamps with all 4 bulbs upgraded to the high-brightness version now offered by most vendors eg Wagner,Sylvania etc.

Since I did that night driving is almost a pleasure instead of downright scary.

I would not put high-wattage bulbs in stock headlamps for fear of meltdown.

As far as meltdown is concerned. The britebox makes is so the hi and low beams can be on at the same time. With the stock wattage (45/65? or is it 35/55) bulbs this is close to, or maybe over 100 watts. The higher wattage bulbs are 55 or 80 low and 100 high.

I don't think higher wattage bulbs will pose a problem, unless you try higher wattage bulbs with the britebox.

My $. 02,

Ryan

PIAA Platinum Series Super White bulbs

I have had the 9004 PIAA Platinum Series Super White bulbs in my Ram since they were released on the market. When I installed my '00 Sport headlight assemblies I purchased another set of PIAA 9004s (used for the high beam only side) and a set of 9007s (used for the low beam/high beam side). In addition, I installed the "special" Brite-Box for that specific conversion (for '94 through '98 Rams). The entire system works extremely well although, not as bright as Evan's HID headlights... then again, mine are legal and his aren't. :D

In addition, I have not experienced premature bulb failure with the Brite-Box, and I'm still using the same two sets of bulbs for almost two years now... and I drive at night way more than the average Rammer.
