rent a trailer?

16K Reese??

Yup..... I leave for the dealer at 4:30 am tomorrow with our trade-in in tow. We have an 8 am walk thru of our new 2005 Forest River Cardinal 29' double slide 5th wheel. Our current trailer is a 2001 Nash 285d 5th wheel that was suppose to do us a very long time. But once we took a look at this new Cardinal and how its layed out... we had to take it home.

Once I get it home I will post some pictures...

You will love your forest river product. I own a 2000 30ft sandpiper and nothing but great praise. If i ever go full timing i would look into Ceder creek, real sweet.

Good Luck

Well the new 5th wheel is at the house! I was really conerned that the new trailer would cause me to add air bags to keep the tail of the truck level but its runs completely level. Now things may change when I load to youth camp this week but right now it looks great...

Even with the extra weight... it didnt seem to make that much difference to the truck... :D :D :D

Rick,

I was looking at ordering the Artic Fox 28-5D model next year. We haven't been able to see the 28-5D model. Our dealer told us we would have to order one.

What things didn't you like about your Nash? What things are better on the Cardinal? Do you know what kind of pin weights you were seeing with your Nash loaded up?

We're still in the research phase of our purchase. Any comments are greatly appretiated.

The Nash was a solid unit! A couple of things that we found with the Cardinal over the Nash was the floor plan and the use of space.

Our Nash had a very small amount of room around our bed. It made it VERY hard to get around when getting into the closet of getting dressed in the morning.

The rest of the main area was ok but when we looked at the Cardinal... there is so much more space.

Are the Artic Fox or Nash trailers worth what you pay for them ... I would say yes. Would we buy another one ... after seeing the room in our new trailer and it being only 7" longer I would have to say NO!

From what I can find... the UVW of the Nash was about 1540 lbs and the Cardinal is 1980. Even with the extra pin weight ... the truck still runs level.

Thanks Rick, I did notice the lack of room around the bed, but I also liked the structure and quality of the Artic Fox. We were looking at the bunk house floor plan just for the extra sleeping capacity (we still have kids going with us). I guess we'll keep investigating. Thank again for the reply.

We have 2 kids. . (16,14) and they like to bring their friends plus we have young people that drop by the camp ground and crash in the floor of the trailer. .

We have had as much as 7 people sleeping in our Nash. It was a little tight but we made it. .

Its hard to make a good choice with being able to get inside the trailer and look around

Good luck on your search...

Rick
