Really excited to be rid of that godawful ford f450. After reading some of the threads I ordered the truck with the brake controller deleted, but am looking for some feedback on where to mount the controller, I have the bucket seats with console and didn't realize space is at a premium, going to use the new prodigy p2

thanks

I mounted mine below the steering wheel, just above the latch for the hood release. Hasn't been in the way yet.

Does your truck have the switches for the auxilary power? My 3500 C&C Laramie has the heated seats, steering wheel, etc. . No room for the 4 auxilary power switchs. All the wires are there behind the dash and under the hood, just no switches to work them.

Congratulations on your new truck and for joining the club of happy owners of reliable trucks. Your bad memories of the lousy Furd will eventually fade into the past.

I agree with Matt400 above. I preach the same gospel. For a few more dollars you could install a real brake controller that will allow you to directly control trailer braking with your right foot for precise, modulated, controlled trailer braking every stop. A BrakeSmart will allow you to forget about trailer brakes and trailer brake controllers.

On edit:

Ooops. I misspoke. I own a BrakeSmart controller and swear by it so automatically wrote BrakeSmart above. From what I've heard it is no longer possible to buy a new BrakeSmart. The current pressure sensing product now offered is the MaxBrake which works on the same principle and is apparently identical in function.

Why spend all that money and then buy a second rate brake controller. My C&C has the Brake Smart controller and the 04. 5 my brother got from me, has the prodigy controller. The Brake Smart is so much better, and after spending a lot of CASH to buy the C&C, I 'm glad I didn't get cheap on the controller. I located my controller just to the right of under the steering wheel, so I could see it but be out of the way of the hood latch. On the 04. 5, I located it directly under the steering wheel but I could not see it. I don't know what the interior is like on the 2011 but I'm sure its close to the same.

I appreciate the input, honestly I had read a bit about the brakesmart but have OEM access to the prodigy so was just taking the easy way out. A couple thoughts one I change weights all the time so I like the pressure activated, also the compact size may fit in the center console where the shifter would be for a 1500 is a pretty good sized tray, so would have really good access, no knee kicks.

thanks

I totally agree with all the above posters, get the MaxBrake. You won't regrate it. I have the BrakeSmart, which is the same pressure sensing concept as the MaxBrake.

Never hit it, I think I was smarter the second time around, then where I located the Prodigy. Also I'm sorry for not congratulating you on your 4500 purchase, please post pics, I think they are a lot sharper looking then the third gens after seeing them on the road. ;)
