Pickens, SC - Anybody

I have a job opportunity that requires some quick thinking and it is in Pickens, SC. Just looking for opinions on the area, things to look out for. When I moved from VA to PA 3 years ago I must not have asked enough questions because I had lots of surprises like taxes taxes and taxes on taxes. You know it's bad when you have to pay a $52 privilege tax to work in PA!
