I am wonder if anyone on here has any ideas of things to check first. This morning I was driving down the road, everything was going just fine, and then all the sudden my accelerator was dead, so I tryed the cruise quick and nothing there either. By this time I was slowed down and stepped in the clutch to down shift and the tach went to zero, when I let the clutch back out the tach went back up just like it normally should. It seems I am not getting any fuel. Tryed starting and nothing. All this happened with out any warning lights all gauges read fine, no bells went off and there isn't any codes if you check on the odometer display, when I got my pickup hauled home I borrowed a buddies BullyDog and plugged it in and it also did not read any codes. It was very cold outside so I only checked the important fuses. I also unplugged the Quadzillla I was running from the engine sensors. Tomarrow I will do some more investigating, thought I would check and see if anyone has seen this before. Maybe the FCA, or something in the CP3? I am assuming that if it was a crank or cam shaft position sensor I would have gotten a code. or any other sensor for that matter. TIA

Possibly a failed in-tank lift pump? People whose lift pumps fail often report the truck just dies like shutting off the ignition.

I notice you're in North Dakota. Is it possible your fuel gelled? Pull the fuel filter to check.

No, it didn't gel up, I will check the fuel pump, all I know so far is that it still runs, but don't know if it pumps, I plan on checking that though right away.

I checked the fuel pressure and with just the key on it goes up to about 8 psi according to the gauge, and while cranking it is down to about 6 psi, that is all I have done so far.

I too suspect the lift pump. My 'on the filter' lift pump did exactly what you experienced... truck died like being shut off. If I let it set for a few minutes it would fire right up, then die again in 3 - 4 minutes as it warmed up. Glacier Walbro install will finish in the morning.

Probably not the lift pump then. Those numbers sound normal for an in-tank pump.

Yesterday afternoon I put a volt meter on the rail pressure gauge signal wire and with key on it was only . 5 volts, so while cranking it didn't change, and I just found voltage specs on here . 5 volts is zero psi. I am going to do some more checking. Is it possible that FCA is stuck shut, or pump not turning?

Maybe, although I've never heard of one sticking shut.

If the engine is turning, the pump is turning.

Ryan

I know the pump is suppose to turn when the engine is turning, but I ment if the shaft broke, or something like that. Anyways, I checked the voltage on the rail pressure sensor with just the key on . 515 volts cranking it only goes up to . 521 volts, I am guessing that isn't enough to start. So I took off the line from the CP3 to the rail and when cranking the fuel just bearly dribbles out of the pump, so it seems to me the pump is toast, any thoughts?

Try unplugging the FCA and check the fuel flow from the pump. It should be much more than with it plugged in. Unplugged is full flow to the pump.
