Tractor Question

Idle control ... Is it true?

Went to Buick dealer the other day to drop off Mom's car. Noticed pickup sitting out in front lot. When we came back to pick up the car I went to take a look at it.

Well it wasn't an ordinary pickup. This truck was a GMC C450 crewcab with a neat large conversion, a pickup bed made to the scale of the C450. It had a durmax in it option price was $5850.

The conversion cost $19,500 bringing the pricetag up from $43,000 to $63,000. Part of the conversion mite of been the crew cab, I can't see the pickup bed being that much.

They had a two door flat bed sitting right next to it, they were the same length. The flat bed had a duramax too but different code and the option price was $6810. The only reason I could think of was more torque because the sticker said 300 horses for both.

Sorry no pictures. :( :{

there is 2 duramax engines avalable in the big ones, there is the 6. 6 v8 that the pickup trucks have, then there is a larger ±7. 2 I6 that is in a similar class to the cat 3126E [size, weight, hp, trq] but the I6dmax is less $$$ than the cat

Check out this months Trailer Life magazine for a test of this truck. Less power, towing capability, and economy then a Dodge Cummins 600. -- + 20k more expensive.

Too bad Dodge doesn't make a 4500 yet...

Both were listed on the sticker as 300 hp duramax 660 but different order codes lrm/lrx sent brother in-law e-mail to see if he new the difference in the codes. He works at chevy car/truck dealer but in service area.

Checked out Monroe's web site no picture of pickup bed but they state they do crew/club cab /custom conversions on med duty and custom mods on 3500's for gm and others.

Will24, As I recall both were 2004. An added thought is that the 2500 and 3500 mite have differnet codes since the c450 are the same size as Freightliner and International med duty's.

The crew cabs are a factory option. They are on their medium duty trucks C4500- C7500. The pickup bed is also done by an in house conversion company.

This is on Monroe's web page (home).
