I wanted to post some pics of my 78 RC 'Macho' build that I just started. Got it pretty much torn apart and ready to go to blasting. Here's a few initial pics - I'll try to post a few here and there as the project goes

Eventually it's going to be dark red with the black hood and base and yellow stripe, very similar to the 'Macho' package offered in the late 70's with a couple subtle changes as I wanted it to look.

Pic 1 is an overhead of the RC and a donor truck I have, most of the donor will be used for the diesel project later this year.

Pic 2 is the RC carcas after the majority of the dissassembly

Pic 3 is with the front clip removed and TJ inspecting the carnage!

Pic 4 is the first look when I got the thing several months ago

Everything goes to get blasted this weekend, then the body work starts, paint, then reassmebly. I'm pulling the tub tomorrow and attaching it to my rotisserie, so it'll be a frame-off restification. More pics to follow.

Ramcharger

Makes me yearn for my old '79. What a bullet proof truck. It was a sport, 360, 727 NP204 full time. Sold it after 225,000 trouble free miles. It's still out there getting it done.

You are doing a fine job. How you going to power the beast?

Keep us posted !

Sam I don't know anything about fertilizer (except what comes out of my horses) but won't it make that driveway grow hair like a chia pet come spring? ;)

For motor-vation and driveline I'm going pretty bulletproof: 440, 727d, 205d, Dana 60 front, Dana 70 rear. 440 is . 060-over (452 cid) with nice warm torque-making components, Edelbrock 625 AVS and Crane Cams Hi-6 ignition, transmission is a divorced 727 that I used to have in my power wagon and it has an RV towing kit and a shift kit plus a B&M 4-qt deep pan, the 205 is divorced and needs nothing except a home, the D60 front is from a '79 powerwagon with lockouts and an Eaton electric differential locker, and the rear Dana 70 w/ limited slip and ABS is being lovingly donated by my '93 Cummins D250 (which is getting a Dana 80 dually with lim slip, ABS, and discs that I stole from an '02 Cummins on the East coast). It's also getting Skyjacker suspension, crossover steering, and a whole ton of custom stuff. It's going to be a beasty of an off-road 4x4 truck and it'll easily do duty as a tug boat for hauling the Demon to the track and shows this year while the diesel is apart.

Tim - Probably so, but it's not MY driveway!! :-laf . See you on the 12th bro -

frame rotisserie

Thought I'd post a couple pics of the 'rotisserie' I built for working on the frame. Frame won't tip over or fall off, ever, and can be maneuvered around in any direction. Couple of Harbor Freight engine stands, and little angle iron, some drilling, some good bolts, and presto - instant frame rotisserie.

Once you use a rotisserie you'll never go back to concrete.....

home-made 'paint booth'

aaaaand here's some pics of the 'paint booth' I made from two gigantic tarps and a whole lot of ropes and pulleys. Really it's more like a huge set of drapes to keep the moajority of the overspray off of the rest of the stuff in there... .

Hope it works... :p
