skobylenski,

It took Dad and I about 30 minutes to back the baler on the trailer. It hit the rub rail on each side. When we go the tongue of the baler on the dovetail, we unhooked the tractor and pushed/slid the baler on by hand.

John,

The trailer weights 4,500 pounds empty. It pulls really well. But tight areas can be interesting. So far, I have only removed one marker light by accident. Dad and I unloaded two 2,000 pound bundles of slab wood and when I pulled away from them, the tail of the trailer caught the corner of a stack of wood. That equated to broken ligh lense in the driveway. :{

Nice picture Jeremy. It isn't too overloaded compared to the Dual tandem hooked to the Cummins with all of those round bales on it in one of your previous pictures:D How do you manage to keep your truck clean while attending school and farming? Those are my occupations and my rig is a mess! Thanks for sharing the picture.

Nice looking trailer.

Is that a new deck I see shining in the center of the trailer? I hate doing decking. Its hard on the knees. LOL

You need to get a winch installed on there now. Pushing and grunting isn't worth it. All you would have had to do then was hook the tongue to it. Let it do the work.

Hi John,

This trailer rides a bit better than the neighbor's dual tandom. The overload springs have helped a lot too. I can haul 150 square bales of hay long distance and 200 local. I also haul 200 bales of straw long distance. Any more weight than that and the truck is really sluggish. Plus I don't want to kill the automatic yet. If you look real close, the truck is fairly dirty. I have only had time to wash it once this fall.

Philip,

That is a new deck of red elm. A saw mill east of Peru sawed it out for me. I had to drill pilot holes and then run 5/16 torx drive self tapping bolts in. There are still a few missing :D Maybe next week . . . The trailer did have a winch, but it didn't come with it. :( BTW, Dad did more pushing and grunting while we loaded the baler. Must be his age. I kept pointing where I wanted it to go:D Nah, Dad was a great help.

I was wondering if you found the lumber there. You were talking about the slab wood it is tight in that area. It was the closest place I knew of.

You looking for electric winch or shaft drive?
