Well I decided to give the truck a little face lift. I got a 2" leveling kit and a 2" rear-add-a-leaf from tuff country. I don't really like the level look especially when I pull my trailer it sags a little. The kit and leafs cost me $200 which I think is a lot better deal than a skyjacker 2. 5" lift or the tuff country 3" lift. The tires are Kelly Safari 315/75/16. They measure 34. 5" tall in.

Why did you have to go and post that. Now my garage door is gonna need a lift cause my truck just sneaks under it now, stock.

I likes. Just like the "factry" should have done. :D

Big, clean look, and fast. I think Dodge needs trucks like this in there commercials.

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah the whole front windshield is tinted. It has been that way for a couple months. I was told it might give me a headache, but it doesn't and I really like it.

Man, that is a sweet truck!! Are those factory wheels with the 315's on them? I'm struggling with a wheel/tire upgrade now. :(

What size tire were you running before?

Thanks

Steve

The front window is 35% and the rest are 5%. I was running 265/75/16 then 305/70/16 for about a week and then the 315s. They are a little slower off the start, but after that I really can't tell a difference. W/ the 305s I couldn't tell a difference b/t that and the 265s. W/ the 265s I could really leave the rubber down on the street in 2nd and 3rd and now w/ the 315s I can really only lay it down heavy in second. And no I didn't do the rear add-a-leaf myself. The tire store did it for $90!!! You cannot beat that.

Nice pics.

Kalaehina, putting add-a-leaves in is'nt too hard. I've done couple of my trucks, although the Dodge was the hardest since the springs were more stiff. After I unbolt one side of the axle from the spring pack, I use big C-clamps to hold the leaves together, then unbolt or cut the locating pin that centers the leaves. Then let the pressure off. Slip in add-a-leaf and reverse process. You need to put the new locating pin in before compressing the pack back together so things will line up. Use the pin to help tighten the pack. Once things are pretty close (usually I can't compress the pack together completely) put the axle back up against the spring pack and get the weight of the truck on it to help compress things better and tighten the pin more. Now do the other side. It's pretty simple if you have the right tools. Just be careful. HTH.

My truck is doo doo brown! I thought about getting it painted that 2001 silver, but after a 5k estimate I think I will stick w/ brown!!

Any problem with the tires rubbing anywhere? Did you do

anything with the steering? Does it drive any different? Some claim their truck has driven better after the lift and larger tires.

Any noticeable change in fuel consumption?

The truck looks real good. I'm considering putting Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTX 315/75's on the wife's 2500. Any

opinion on these tires? Has anyone run these?

I need to make certain I don't have to hear how those tires have ruined her ride!

Any help would be appreciated!

With the leveling kit the tires never rub. I didn't do anything w/ the steering. I think the leveling kit makes it harder to get the steering wheel centered, but the tires ride awesome. I mean the other day I was cruising about 115 on the highway and they rode pretty good. My fuel mileage sucks to begin w/ but I don't really think they affect my 12mpg average, but it may hurt you about 1-2mpg. I think you would be real happy w/ the mickeys. I had 40" mickey baja belted on one of my trucks and they rode really well, so I think the less aggressive MTX would ride even better.
