Pics of truck with sunroof

Some of you expressed interest in seeing pics of my truck when it came in, as I have not yet seen sunroof pics posted on the TDR. Well, here ya go! The sunroof works flawlessly, and the fit and finish is excellent. It has one-touch open, close, and vent. The opaque shield is covered in headliner fabric and opens automatically if you open the sunroof, but must be manually slid closed (as most are).

Um, it's a ~$750 option from the factory... so Dodge, and Dodge, to answer your questions.



The nice part about it being a factory option is that the roof panel is formed and reinforced for the sunroof from the beginning, whereas aftermarket cuts a hole in a roof designed to be a solid unit.

My 05 was one of the orders that got the sunroof deleted, I have the option working for the dealer to get an aftermarket one installed from the same company that does the factory install, I am curious is the middle light still there or did they move it rear more from the normal locationl and do you have the side impact airbags?

I'm not sure what you mean about the middle light, but you should be able to tell from my pics. If there's another angle you want, I can try to go take more. Personally, even though I know there are high quality aftermarket units out there, I would re-order another truck and get the factory option. The unit might be the same, but the roof itself is not. That might not matter, but I guess I'm just picky about stuff like cutting holes in my roof. No, I don't have the side airbags.

the light I am reffering to is over the center console / rear seat area it is the dome light, maybe if you shoot a picture from say the steering weel rearward I would answer my own question; it would be greatly appreciated. Being that I work for a dealership getting the aftermarket and a waranty realy are not too big of a deal for me; we put one in a customers truck it was an 03 and he is still very happy with it with no problems of sagging or warping of that sort. I cannot re-order as I took deliver 3 weeks ago unfortunatly...

Ahh. . ok, yes there is a rear dome light, however it is mounted as far back as possible, all the way to the back window, and angled forward slightly. I never paid attention to it in the non-sunroof trucks to see if it's in a different place from those ones. It operates the same as the lights up front, though, by depressing the lens and releasing, however there is just one light instead of 2 lights that shine each way.

Many people have had the Hollandia power moonroof installed to the tune of around $1000. I wonder if one could get the parts for this factory moonroof and have those installed instead. I wonder which one would be better quality.

I *LOVE* SNOW!!! But that's probably only because it never falls on my driveway, yet it's only 30 minutes away most of the winter. It only takes me about 50 minutes to get from my driveway at near 0' to 7000' and on the ski lift. Sometimes I'll drive up there for no other reason than to drive around in a blizzard! Then when I'm tired of it I just head back down the hill.

I have a small favor to ask; when you have time of course, it looks like you have a sliding rear window. I was wondering if you could take a picture through the rear window (open) so that would give a perspective of how much space the sun roof takes up in the cab. Also could you physically measure the opening and reply back with the dimensions of the sun roof? Lastly do you have side curtain airbags?



I am wondering if they (factory) had to relocate the interior dome light. When I got my truck a year ago I did some checking and was told I could not install an after market sun roof because I had side curtain air bags and it would interfere with sensors and wiring.

Um, I just answered that question about the airbags and dome light... I don't have the airbags, but I think they were still available if I had wanted them. The dome light evidentally was moved from the middle to right above the rear window with the sunroof option. I'll take some measurements tonight and post them back to this thread when I get them, though. I might not be able to take a picture for a few days since I have to borrow a digital camera to do that (lost mine), but I'll try to do that asap.

Do you know what brand / manufacture Sun Roof DC choose to supply sun roofs for the 2500 / 3500 series trucks?

not off the top of my head but will check today and see, unfortunalty we have not had any trucks come in with the sunroofs as of yet because we did not want our orders stalled...
