Many thanks to KatDiesel for placing these picture on his webpage, for all to see. This site has some really generous people. Maybe one day I'll have my own page setup.

I chose to mount the system horizontally instead of verticle. I understand to be the "preferred" mounting position. After much experimentation and testing, I didn't like how the bottom of the filters were visible when looking at the front of the truck. The filters hung below the bumper ever so slightly. Secondly it seemed they would be more prone to damage, from off-road adventures, snow drifts, etc... So far, everything is workings as expected, and went on without a hitch... Other than what seemed like 20 hours trying to find the "perfect" place for them. Lastly, and probably something very. . very minor and possible meaningless, but the fan blows gobs & gobs of air over them when idling. Naturally, I have no idea how much air passes while in motion. The pictures are a little deceiving in that the filters do not look horizontally level.
What do you think??

Still wishin I could put my M3's mile deep paint job on the truck. Or maybe I should wish to swap its perfectly engineered automatic. Or maybe... . Ah heck, Just wish BMW would start makin a truck using the ISB!

Being where they are, would it be that some steel braided line be used instead of the rubber hoses? Sometimes I overkill stuff...
Great looking job. .

Nice job. Im thinking it would be "cool" (pardon the pun) to add a nice oil cooler, maybe a perma-cool, inline probably in front of the radiator, or wherever would make sense after another 20 hrs of r&d of course.

Im thinking that cooler oil means longer engine life. I had one on my ol' chevy and that baby never heated up even under extreme conditions. It had over 200k miles and still ran good when I sold it. I'm sure the cooler oil helped. I'm seriously considering putting one on mine. Whatcha guys think??

Your job looks good to me, at least the filters are not hanging down like some I've seen.

I looked at the 'lower' mounting and didn't like the exposed location. Instead, I designed a bracket that sort-of sits around the right-side battery, allowing the dual-remote filter to be installed in the only open space under the hood. The bracket places the weight and stress of the filter unit (and oil) on the plastic battery holder-base instead of the battery istelf. The filters are vertical and quite accessible. (I really need to buy a cheap film-camera and take some pictures, and put them and a line drawing of the bracket on my website; I'll get to it this week!)

So far, the filter and bracket are working fine, although there *is* a slight oil leak from one of the filters - I might have gotten a filter with a bad gasket, or there was a blemish on the filter mount that I failed to note which caused one of the gaskets to fail; I'll track it down this week.

Deezal Man, looks like you have a good solid mount that'll work great! I just chose to do it a bit differently.

Many thanks for the pictures of the dual by-pass unit. Your timing was great as I just received my kit in the mail today. Hope the air dam hides the bottom of the filters as viewed from the front.

Hey Deezal Man, did you only use that one bracket and four bolts, oris there any hidden hardware to support everything. I drive a lot of rough dirt roads, and would hat to have the bolts or bracket come loose. Thanks.

Just a note on adding the photos -- if you edit the pictures to ~640 wide before placing them on the internet, it will keep people from having to scroll side to side to see them.

Just a thought -- Kat, if you can edit these to ~640 wide it would sure help.

There's another way to 'resize' the images. In the HTML tag to display the image, for example:
<IMG SRC=URL>
), you can add WIDTH and HEIGHT arguments:
<IMG SRC=URL WIDTH=640 HEIGHT=480>

This is an easy way to scale images to any desired width or height.

Netscape and IE seem to be smart enough to retain the aspect ratio if you use only WIDTH or HEIGHT, but I know of at least one browser that doesn't.

To do it correctly, use one of the following formulas.

If you are setting the width to 640 and need to determine the correct height:
new_height=original_height*640/original_width

If you are setting the height to 150 and need to determine the correct width:
new_width=original_width*150/original_height

Most image viewers give you a means of finding the image dimensions.

You can visit my dual remote mounting web page for
an example: http://user. mc.net/~murphyn/amsoil/amsoil.html
