:D got the kit in today, and I knew everyone has said how great it was and so on but I had a hard time believeing changing a couple of springs would make all that difference, but its all true! the truck feels better all around and ...

before-- flat feeling at 2300 RPM until lockup

Now---- pulls hard right up to 3200 (were I let off:--) Oo.

and i gained 10 MPH on the 1/4 mile (93mph now:) ). .

I am kinda jazzed about the whole deal now:D :D :D

thank you Piers!!

Jim

Jim,

It's everything we ever said it was... . nothing short of amazing!!

Yet another example of why every P7100 equipped engine must be Piersified !!!

Matt

;) You guys keep bringing this up and I'm gonna have to drop $125 of my hard earned money!;) Honestly, it's in my plans but you guys really help build the anticipation:D

I put a set of 3K springs in a partner's 98 12valve auto last week. I also slid the plate up . 040". Other than that it is bone stock. He is absolutely amazed at the difference and now believes I know what I am doing. Says he knows the mileage went up too because he is already past the miles per tank he usually fills up at. We'll see. He also had the cat removed and changed to a straight through muffler today. He's coming around. We'll be looking for transmission parts pretty soon. :D

Hey Holeshot......

Go easy on Piers, man. Most all of us agree he's a great guy, dare I say the "GURU" when it comes to the P pump, but we don't want him to get all full of himself like certain other knuckleheads (read: self-proclaimed experts) that post on TDR... . ;) ;) :p

Geez, people are gonna start talking (how much is Piers paying him?):p :p :p :p

Besides, if everybody buys his stuff, there won't be any Dodges left to beat. Just imagine how boring it would get smoking powerjokes and duracraps all day... .....

Guys: I'm sorta curious too. What is involved in changing these springs? I looked around in the service manual and couldn't find anything. Also I put the petal to the metal the other day and my '96 Cummins just climbed right up to 3K rpm... ... so do I really need these springs or what? Thanks for any advice and help.

Installing the kit is pretty easy if you are mechanicly inclined. if you dont feel comforatable doing it, see if there is a TDR member you can get to help you do it. ... ..... mine would go up to 3100 rpm, but it wouldnt pull from 2400-3100 like it does from 1600-2100. now it just pulls all the way from mashing to as high as I dared at the time... 3200:D and it was still not showing signs of the dreaded "defuel" (disclaimer... I was in (Drive) not (overdrive)so I was not breaking the speed limit TOO badly!)makes me wonder what my top speed is now... to bad I will never know:rolleyes: ),

Jim

TurbogRAMpa,

If you stop at 2400, I'm thinkin' you're way past due for a set. Yours are shot! :( (maybe?).

JStordahl,

Go for it. Mine would go to 3000-3100 before the kit. Now it goes right to 3500 or a little more. Really helped the power band.

dustoff,

If you can change injectors or put in a plate and AFC spring, you can do the kit. It takes a few extra tools (caliper, for instance, and maybe a pencil magnet and/or wire hook), but with patience and a steady hand, very do-able.

Oooo... Sounds like your's would really respond to a 3K set. Stock they seem to turn anywhere from 2400 to 3000 unloaded but pulling is where the difference is really noticable.

hmmmm been thinking about this, and I think everyone should remove their GSK to avoid possible engine damage!!!!. . everyone but me!!!:D :D

and no... piers is not paying me... :{

New Spring kit last night...

I installed my 3k last night and put in a #4 at the same time.

Not sure which is causing the noticeable difference, but it drives soo much better. I LOVE the feel of the gear ratio and power levels.

I would explain it like this:

Before: getting dragged out of the water while slalom water skiing.

After: getting up on plane and actually gliding across the top of the water and being able to relax and navigate.

My idle increased a little so I know that the new springs are a little tighter. I'm heading out this afternoon to do a driveability test to check all of the adjustments as per Piers instructions.

For those considering installing a set, if someone installed a set in your truck and let you drive it for a day, I believe that dang near everyone of you would GLADLY pay the $125 rather than have them removed and replaced with the stock springs. YES, they make THAT much difference.

My install went well, but I'll admit that I was very cautious and bout had a bird when I got the AFC housing off and started to actually remove the old springs. This was virgin territory for me, I wanted everything to be right. I went slow, double checked everything, went step by step and lived to tell about it.

1) Piers isn't paying me.

2) I wish someone would pay me..... *hint, hint*

3) Too much good PR never hurt anyone, especially if it's all factual statements.

As for Piers having an inflated ego..... well... . some of us kinda deserve to say we kick butt in a certain aspect or another... . he definitely knows his stuff and will take the time to help out anyone who asks him. If any vendor treated me the way Piers does and took the time he has... . they would receive the same amount of positive feedback as Piers does.

Matt - not paid by Piers... . and I'm too far away to buy him a beer or ten for helping me out.....
