who made this engine?

SCAQMD Bans Diesel School Buses in Southern California

Not sure that the picture shows it moving, since there are no rear axles in the photo. It appears that the the Cummins twisted the axles off on the way up the hill and the drive shaft is now kicking up one heck of a dust cloud; possible gold mine exploration. :)

I rode the cog train up to the peak this year and those train cars are powered by Cummins. 375hp as I recall. It's a great ride with some 25% grade.

Pikes Peak Climb

Well, years ago, the wife & I rode up it on a 850 Norton cycle. I flooded the sucker up on the top and just about had a heart attack at the altitude trying to get it started (kick start).

Believe I had rather climb it in that the next time.

?

I have to agree, looks like they might be melting the rear end of the first truck down to do a re-pour. But the second truck is awesome, White 3500, making smoke and holding the left front wheel high. PS Guess I might be partial to White 3500's. bg

I don't know if it was the same Ram 3500 as listed in the photo, but in 1999 Hill Climb, the 3500 died just short of the summit. I don't recall what the problem was. Later that day, I saw him driving on the streets of Colorado Springs (at Woodmen/I25) ... . awesome looking truck in person.

LOL @ Saint, wispy smoke indeed. That's because Doc "P" doesn't overfuel, or at least that's his advertising slogan.

I wasn't there but the word was they had a crack in the filter housing that caused them to DNF at PP. Who knows for sure?

Note Doug Holfeldt's "Air Bulldog" hood on Doc "P"s truck.

Yeah thats the same truck. He was movein pretty good when he passed by me at about the half way point. I also took some pics of the big trucks cummin around the turn sideways, but I dont have them on disk
