So, you want to go camping ;) , you want to eat great ribs :D , you want to get out and enjoy nature :) , you want to get your truck up in the woods  , and you want to watch some of the best and most dangerous racing money can buy  - well, your chance has come! Oo.

CampFest 05 is ON!! Oo.

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb - Race to the Clouds - 25 June 2005!!

Here's the deal:

24 June -

3 pm: Arrive - Gather and camp out in the Garden of the Gods campsite area.

7 pm: Dinner - Full course meals of ribs, sides, drinks and deserts.

~10 pm: Crash out for 5-hour sleep (keep reading... :-laf )

25 June -

3 am: Start Engines: As quietly as possible, cruise out of campground and head up the 5-mile stretch to the Pikes Peak Highway entrance, and get in line.

4 am: Gates open. Head up to one of several possible sites, and shut 'em down. Tentatively looking at Glen Cove. Go mark our spots for the race, and cat-nap in the rigs until breakfast. ATV's allowed, and I'll have mine for moving gear, chairs, etc. Could use a few more.

7 am: Breakfast and coffee - Breakfast burrito chow-fest. Full breakfast and drinks.

10 am: Race starts.

4 pm: Race ends. Compeditors parade down the mountain. Gather gear, chairs, etc, load the rigs, and head down.

Camping: $28/nite for 2 people (one 'tent'). I have 10 campsites earmarked already - I just have to tell the man 'we'll take 'em!". The number of sites is dependent on how many RSVP's I get. I have to know soon and the RSVP's have to be serious.

Race tickets: $35, $40 day of race. I can get them all in advance based on RSVP's. Send me a check or bring cash - it's all good, just be there ;) .

Lots of details to come - mostly logistics, maps, etc. All I need at this point is a 'yae' or 'nae'... actually all I need is 'yae's' :-laf . If you haven't seen the Hill Climb, well, it's fantastic, and at times completely breathtaking, especially at Glen Cove. The camping beforehand is just a fun way to gather and goof off, eat good foor, meet and greet friends, and basically have a good time.

This event will be run jointly with the Southern Colorado Mopars car club as well as the Ramcharger Central Club of Colorado - all car and truck fans, and all Mopar. I would like to keep it open for friends/family as you'd like to do - it's all good, but these three clubs are the main players.

So lemme hear ya and send me the RSVP's. I'm fairly sure the 10 campsites will fill up fast, and I can get more as needed. Cool deal - see you on the Mountain!

Sam,

I really really wish I could go. I may have to move some stuff around. My dad used to race the peak as well as my grandma's former husband (Dick Pettit). I miss the springs badly:( Graduated from Manitou Springs and was shocked that the museum is out of business. Did they move the date because of the indy car or did Nick Sanborn die?
