Looking for input from those of you that have pillar gauge mounts. What I would like to know is, when you are in your seated driving position do they obstruct any of you view out the drives front corner? I find that our trucks already have a large pillar (blind spot) as compared to others and I don't want to add to this? Thanks.

I have the triple A-pillar from DIS. It covers slightly more of the viewing area than the stock pillar, but not much. Maybe 1/2" - 1" more of windshield area. It didn't take long to adjust to the pillar. As you know, guages are going to be a compromise of looks, readability, and road obstruction. Pillar mounts have relatively small obstruction for the benfits of looks and readability IMO. I'll try to get some more exact numbers for you later today as I'm kinda guestimating the measurements.

When I installed my 2 gauge pillar mount, I noticed that it stuck out more into the windshield than the stocker did (which allowed you to see some of the wiring when looking from the front).

What I did was put a second screw in at the top to help pull the edge of the mount up closer to the pillar. I have one screw on the top going into the pillar perpendicular to the windshield to hold the pillar up. The second screw was put in parallel to the windshield. Depending on how much I tighten this screw, I can pull the edge of the mount up close to the pillar reducing the vision obstruction. Right now, I've got the edge of the mount right at the edge of the black trim line around the windshield, so I'm not losing any viewing area.

I can try to get pictures this evening if it would help explain it better.

For me

It does not block my view one bit. Lined up perfectly with the pillar so not much difference. I have the triple mount. Good luck.

Rods pod

I think wild cat diesel has a pod that goes on the bezel looks good. I made sure that I did'nt put any more on the piller because I hit a mini van with a 26K truck that had ran a stop sign. I never saw the van with the big piller. BTW I put my gauges in where the center air vents were it almost makes it look OEM.

Ok, I took a closer look. My pillar mount is held in with a single self-tapper between the top and middle pod, and the pillar mount is flush with the rubber door seal on the outside. At the top pod, there is 3/4" obstruction at windshield, and it tapers out to 1 1/2" obstruction at the bottom pod. Actual driving blockage will depend on how far away the other cars/objects are. Hope this helps.

No problem

When I bought my CTD I really noticed the A-pillar, it seemed to really be in the way. After a little while I adjusted and no longer give it a second thought. Because of this I had the same concerns about adding the triple pillar, anyway I added the triple and have no problems. I do not even notice it now. The triple pod does not block enough vision to worry about IMO.

The triple doesnt bother me at all. The A pillar is already so big that is doesnt make any difference. If you are a short person with the seat slide forward it might make a difference but a tall person with the seat all the way back seems to be at the angle where the gauges are in line with the A pillar.

My triple pod doesn't block my view any more than the stock pillar. What did block my view was the tinted plastic vent visor I mounted on the top of the window, added about 1. 5 inches of obstruction to the pillar. Definitely should look behind pillar before entering traffic!

Bill, I was just going to say the same thing. The a-pillar cover didn't really obstuct my view any more than the original cover. Those darn ventshades almost cost me my font end about 4 times already. I may take them off but they are real nice in the rain when you want some fresh air.

Great input thanks and keep them coming. Would be nice to sit in a truck that actually has them in place? I to find the vent shade adds a lot to the blind spot.

I have the triple gauge pillar and it I love it. It lines up perfectly with the stock pillar and mounted up nicely, looks factory.

Pillar guage mounts

I bougnt the triple pillar mount at the THUNDER IN MUNCIE. Now I have to take it apart and re do the fuel guage because they forgot to send the instructions, and parts. I went to the Auto Zone and Advance Auto parts to find those little plastic nails that will hold the new a-piller to the old one but all I can find are those ones that are about as big as a dime. Other than some friendly advice as to where I need to tape into the fuel line for a correct preasure reading how would I find these plastic clips so small that it looks like it was supposed to be that way. Hey I got the bomming bug at Muncie but I would like it to at least look like it is supposed to. I only have about 8000 miles on this and still want it to look good. :(

Replacement

I think it might make a little difference if you use it as a replacement instead of a cover. I used as a repalcement and it does not stick out as much as others I've seen. If you cover the existing one it seems it would stick out alittle more, IMO.

I agree with your logic but I used mine as a cover and it looks perfect.

I have a dual pod and took a day to get comfortable with, just the feeling of something new, no biggie, had to get used to the lights from the gauges at night too.

I've got triple pods in both trucks. When installing them you can rotate them around the pillar slightly to keep the gauges from protruding into the viewing area. Also, on the second install I squeezed the new mount a little when marking for mounting pin holes. That made the pod a little bit narrower and worked nice.

Put the least used gauge on top - it's the hardest one to focus on when looking at the road ahead.

Agree about the vent things. Even though they're actually transparent but shaded I can't get used to looking through them. I think they are going away soon.
