Hey guys,

I'm replacing my dash over the holiday. I'm switching from the dash mount to the pillar mount. Do you whip the pod down with thinner before you paint it? How do you run the wires and tubing to get to the pillar mount?

Thanks

Jeff

I recently installed one. I did wipe it down with thinner first but not sure it is necessary. It does need to be cleaned and scuffed though.

I painted mine with the Chrysler paint in a little spray can that matches everything and it came out nice.

The wires have plenty of room to run down through the pillar and down behind the dash and out to where they need to go.

My 3 pod mount fit over top the existing pillar. I ran the wires and tubing up under the dash and thru the fuse panel. I added a piggy back ADD-A-Fuse fuse (Kragens has them) to the dash Illumination fuse so the dash light dimmer also dims the gage lights.

The pod mount came with plastic pins that go thru the pre-drilled holes but they did not stay so I put black anodized screws in into the frame under the mount.

one tip that will save a few headaces, drill 3/4" holes behind each pod opening in the stock piller so that you can run your wires behind the stock one and through it into the new one, trust me, makes things sooo much easier.

I removed the stock one and put one screw in up towards the top. the bottom wedges its self in 2 years and no movement.

Thanks for all the responses. I have the little speaker in the stock pillar mount. I thought I would have to remove the stock A-pillar. Jeff

Jeff. .

I did not use the stock pillar behind the aftermarket one on mine. I just placed it where I wanted it to go for the best fit and used a small drill bit and drilled one small hole. After I fished the wires and tubing up the side around the fuse box and into place I just placed a long thin stainless screw through the pillar and used a screw cap cover to hide it.

I wiped mine clean with alcohol to remove the oily fingerprints before I sprayed it with pant and it covered nicely. I will take a shot of it if you need it... ... . Andy
