Need current advice on triple pillar gauge mounts. Looked at Autometer and Pro Pods, are there others. Read the old threads and still undecided. Just not cozy with the idea of sticking them on with double sided tape. Are they all like this? Is there one that is just a complete replacement for the factory trim. Is it possible to mount a gauge less that 2”. I have a 99 without the speaker. Any advice, suggestions appreciated. Oh, also heard of Lo-Tek but haven’t confirmed they even make one for our Rams. Thanks

There have been a number of other member who have their pods mounted over the existing factory cover. Some have used adhesive (JB Weld or whatnot) others have used the plastic rivets that Autometer supplies with thier setup.

I cut my factory down so that the top and bottom was left, essesntially removing the middle for wires and just drilled and tapped for two 8/32 screws inbetween the three gauges. Holds solid, I got some cap head black anodized screws and its a done deal. You can see the screws unless you're looking for them, its very quick to remove if need be and looks just fine.

Do some searching and you'll find all kinds of ways to do it.

You can also leave the factory pillar off and mount the new pod right over the metal. One screw at the top will hold it just fine.

I mounted my pod over the existing cover so I had to modify the cover (cut out tweeter speaker mount, cut holes for wires, etc. ). If your cover has the built in tweeter and you want to mount the new pod over the existing cover you might want to purchase a new cover from the dealer. The reason I say this is this: If you decide you want to take your gauge pod out and reinstall your old cover later it's going to cost you $160. 00 for a new cover with a tweeter (you modified the original, remember). If you purchase a new cover before the install you can get by with the one without a tweeter because the tweeter area has to be ground out anyway, price for no-tweeter cover - $35. 00.

Also, I attached my pod to the cover using the supplied plastic rivet drilled and attached to the cover at the top, the bottom is held in by pressure fit.

Good Luck,

Bill

Bob, Was that the Autometer pillar that you just attached directly to the metal and does it seem to interfere with the visor as Jared described with the TST?

Yes I have installed the autometer pillars on 94-2002 Dodges with no problems. I haven't noticed any sun visor interference nor have I heard any complaints of this from any of my customers.
