Going to be replacing the 1410 pinion yoke on the rear axle with the larger 1480 yoke this weekend and I wanted to see if someone could tell me the size of socket I will need for the job. I searched the forums and found lots of good info on pinion seal replacement, etc. but nothing on what size the nut is. Can someone help me out? It's gotta be a 1 1/2" or 1 3/4" socket or something that large.

Also, I read in the searched fourms about putting some kind of sealer on the pinion splines?

I this necessary to prevent a leak and if so, what kind of sealer is recommended?? Pipe sealant?
