Can anyone tell me the correct type of differential pinion seal i'd need for a 94' 2-wheel drive truck? On Rock-Auto.com it lists about 10 different seals all which would technically work on the truck, but i'm not sure. If anyone has any part numbers from when they replaced one on their truck please let me know... or maybe a different website to locate one from, Thanks! :)

He should have the Dana 80 w the 5spd truck. Pinion seal= Nat'l 4525V, wear sleeve =99253. You might consider a new yoke if this has happened several times. A good axle shop might do this more reasonable than you think and point out any other worn bearings etc. to save future headaches.

Good luck

The wear sleeve is only necessary, if the seal has worn a bad groove in the yoke. Improper installation for a leaky seal may be the result of the "re-leak. "

If you are not intimate with rear ends, farm it out and save your sheckels for an easier DIY project. Its simple with a lift and proper r&r tools. For example the torq on the yoke nut is 250 ft. lbs. plus 3/8" turn more or 500 ft. lbs.

Priced a torque wrench that will achieve those specs! :-laf

Good luck

Ordered parts

Andy, thanks for the help man. I already ordered the sleeve to go with the seal, oh well. . . . the truck only has 86k miles on it so i doubt it would have serious groove marks on the yoke yet, or could it?But anyway i am gonna "farm" that out. . i don't have a wrench that big. BTW. . how do you know a Pinion Bearing is going out on you?. . i pulled 15k pounds the other day on a gooseneck and when i took off in 1st and 2nd gears i felt a nasty vibration, could that be that ?

Could be many things, of which the rear end is a possibility.

I would ck. for motor, trans mount movement/wear. Worn u joints etc.

The clutch etal could be shot and its now noticeable with the heavy load or transmission may have component(s) which are worn.

Good luck

Andy
