My pinion seal and tailshaft housing seal have started to leak again. It happened on my trip to Tennessee this past weekend. Nothing on the ground, but I see drops on the tailshaft housing seal and the bottom of the differential housing. I've had the tailshaft housing seal replaced twice, the pinion seal once. Is there an aftermarket seal? And is there any special sealer that I can put on to avoid this happening again. Is it just a bad bunch of seals or is something else causing the problem? I'm thinking about replacing the dam things myself this time. This is getting ridiculous.

John, is your truck 2 or 4 wheel drive? Are you talking about the rear pinion or front pinion. If it is the front pinion then I have to share my experience ( egg on my face ) with you. Thought the same thing about the seal in the front pinion. After some time and embarrasment I realized it was the blow by tube dumping on the site rather than the seal failing. repositioned the blow by tube and no more wet pinion area.

John... Same problem on one of my 2001 trucks. The problem was the Yoke itself was out of round and kept wearing out the seals. . Warranty changed-out the yoke, no more problems.

I just sprung a rear tailshaft seal leak myself in my 2001 Dually and was wondering if that was covered in the extended warranty. If anyone happens upon this message I'd appreciate some educated input. Thanks.
