hey guys im getting ready to install my avic n1 gps and navigation dvd player and was wondering if anyone had installed one in our diesels yet. i'm having trouble finding all the wires in the truck like the spreedo, brake, etc. . it has to be spliced into all these wires for it to work right. the guy that was gonna install it baled on me so i figured i would give it a shot. any help would be appreciated

I installed mine and I think I made a post about it somewhere... I'll look for it. I'm right up the street from you...

edit: well, guess I never wrote up my install because I can't find it anywhere. Anyways, it's not really that hard. You just need to pick up the speed pulse off the transmission, and run a ton of wires... let me know if you have specific questions. BTW, if you connect your brake wire to the cig lighter instead, you can watch DVD's while driving (for passenger's use only of course)!

edit again: check this thread http://www.tdr1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117411&highlight=avic

That's how I tapped the VSS... working perfectly ever since.

If you hookup the speedo wire then you can't make any changes to the navagation while driving. You have to come to a complete stop.

There is no speedo wire. The speed is determined by calibrating the VSS signal with GPS. Mine is connected and all functionality is retained while driving. That is determined by how you connect the parking brake wire.
