OK - sdalton is talking about cigars, so I want to talk about something I have a little interest in. . Pipes

All I have tried is stuff that you get at the drug stores. Where should I go to get some real tobacco. Something nice and fresh. I'd like something smooth with a nice sweet but woodsy aroma. Also, what is the best type of wood for the pipe? Are pipes available with a flatter, wider bit (mouth piece)? And where can I find a wide selection of pipes to choose from, preferably hand made in the US by hill people.

The big shopping centers-malls usually have a tobacco store. They can solve all your needs. And don't forget to get a can of snuff!

Go to a large pipe shop. They should let you try a few blends. I use to smoke them years back, but stopped when I got married. I always liked the cherry blends. I thought the English blends smelled like moldy tennis shoes. I didnt inhale but I did like the sweet taste and sweet smells.

Pipes are a personnal preference. My favorite ones were ones with longer stems and thick bowls. These dissipated heat faster and when the smoke entered your mouth, it was cool, and didnt burn your tongue. I had one that looked like a Leprachans pipe, almost two feet long, but a very cool smoke. It got sat on one day, and I havent seen another like it since.

There is a JR Tobacco shop over your way. They have a great selection of pipe tobacco's as well as pipes. They also have very knowledgeable people working there. Greg is the manager of the JR store and he is VERY knowledgable about pipes as well as cigars. I smoke pipes as well as cigars. For me pipe smoking is a solitary thing - I sit and reflect on life, the universe, and everything :D !
