Check out this very trick looking foam style air filter the boys are using on the TDI's.
Anyone know anything about this company?

They are one of the many companies offering hop ups for the Euro and Japan crowd of sports cars. The filter in the picture looks like one of the K&N's with there foam sleeve. otherwise it is proably like HKS's filter which is all foam. I owuld not want an all foam filter in a Turbo Ram. They dont do much.

EMDDIESEL, whats wrong with an all foam air filter, I ran an Amsoil air filter in a V-10 for 300K, and 109K in my CTD now with no problems?

300K on a V10??? You must be some kind of engine life messiah(sp ol' ron?). When I think of foam filters i think of briggs and stratton for some reason lol. Never have tried one on a 6HP + motor #ad

The only down side to an all foam filter is they are very sensitive to being over oiled. I expierienced this several time with Moto cross racing. If you use too much oil, the filter will work really well, TOO well and will clog with dirt in the large cavities in the foam. If not cleaned often, the suction from a tubo (or a large cubic inch naturally aspirated engine) can pull pieces of foam into the engine. I have seen this happen on a toyota Supra with a foam filter along with a 300GT VR-4 Twin turbo. I have not seen it happen on a Turbo Ram, but i have heard the same thing can happen with the Amsoil filter. Here is the thing. If you DONT over oil the filter and you maintain it properly and dont let it get too dirty. It should not be a problem. In the case of those 2 Japanese cars, no serious damage was done (that we could tell) but it was pretty bad looking. Also, foam filters get "brittle" over time when exposed to heat. I would replace an Amsoil every few years or so. The problem cant happen on a K&N since it is supported by fine screen and cotton by nature does not come apart in chunks.
