Anyone ever tried Pirelli Scorpions? Just got a rain check from Sears for some 245/75/16/E's for less than $75 ea.

I've allways used BFG's in the past (on other vehicles). Would use them again but the pirellis are soooo much less dough.

Wondering if I should follow thru with the rain check and get some mounted.

Got some of the goodyears on now and are getting short on tread. Was going to try to squeak by until end of next summer. But they are the ones in the news and I'm thinking its not wise to push them until nearly bald.

Brian,
I had them on my Toyota 4x4 for about 20K miles before selling it and buying the Dodge/Cummins. I liked them handling and ride wise. I don't think they will go as many miles as BFGs or work quite as well off road, but like you said they are lots cheaper. I got mine at a Sears parking lot sale. The Scorpions on the sidewall look quiet cool to... #ad

HVAC has Pirelli Scorpion Zeros on his truck but you must not be talking about those, the Zeros are high performance tires.

When I can afford it I am wanting to replace my stockers with 18x9" wheels and P285/60/18" Scorpion Zeros, but they run over $200 apiece from what I've seen. They are passenger rated but have a decent Lb rating of 2750 per tire.

I have my eye on Bridgestone Dueler HTS or Dueler HP which are also rated at 2750 per tire in the 285/60/18" size. They are much more affordable, under $150 apiece. The worst thing is the wheels, Weld is about the only brand with 18" 8-lug forged alloy wheels for 3/4T and 1T puckups... quite spendy, about $400-$500 a wheel.

Sorry for rambling, I know this post doesn't really have anything to do with your question briand #ad

Vaughn is right. I have the Pirelli Scorpion
Zeros on my truck. They have large contact patches that should be good for street traction (not, I get 4th gear rubber). We will see how the Pirellis hold up under race conditions tomorrow.

Pirelli makes a rather interesting mud and snow all terrain that is what briand is referring to. I nearly purchased them for my last truck but opted for the BFG's.

I had the Pirelli Scorpions put on about 2500 miles ago and really like them. Truck seems alot more sure footed now and rides better than the original Michelins. Wander is still there but I need the workout keeping it on road anyhow.

A sister tire to the pirelli (sp) is the desert dog brand. I got mine in Houston Tex. area for about 75. 00 per tire. They have about 45,000 miles on them. They have been O. K. tire for the money. They have held up well under the Texas heat. I'm about half way down on the tread and hope to squeeze about another 8 - 10 months out of them. The tread design is not very aggresive more a VERY mild hard dirt tire. No MUDD!!!!!

I noticed the tread design was the same when I was at Sears getting shocks for the wifes suburban. Mine have a Logo of a freaked out dog on them. If you remember the Desert Dog series of sand tire that is what the Logo looks like. Overall I would buy them again!!
