pistolgrip shifter for a 1990 ram

I have the chance to install a pistol grip shifter in my 1990 ram. Has anyone done this before?I saw an episode of Trucks where they were going to put one in a 1999 Ram. I think there would have to be at least a 4 inch off-set for the shifter not unlike the shifters used in the 1970 B-Bodies with a console. Any help would be appreciated. Thx... Jeff

Those shifters on Trucks are ex-pen-sive..... like $400.



I would think your best option would be have a machine shop take your existing shifter and bend/modify the lever portion.



Never done one before on a Getrag. We did a shifter in a '69 Ford pickup with a T18 once--cut & welded the lever assembly. Homebrew job, didn't turn out too bad.

A friend of mine just made one for his truck. I will post some pics in a few days as its in the body shop now getting repainted.
