It's a major job. Pull oil pan, crankshaft, main bearings to remove the nozzles. You might be able to see them well enough after taking off the pan, but the crank is kinda in the way :(

Is it possible to check piston cooling nozzles on the 5. 9 without major teardown? I know the 855's could be pulled out the LS of the block.

not unless you think that droping the crank is a minor job!

I rebuilt a 6bta about 10 years ago when they had the smaller nozzles in them ( first put the large ones in) then discovered that was not the "thing" to do so I replaced them with the smaller nozzles to be safe( still had the motor on a stand) then I found out that I needed a new oil pump, got the HO pump and I could have used the larger nozzles!! Might have to put them in there some day:)
