Truck is apart, and I am trying to beat off the pitman arm. Still not off yet, but nearly exploded the puller from the torque applied.

I may give this up soon, and put everything back together and let the local shop break their puller.

My question is... can the pitman arm be 'clocked' on the shaft, or is there a large 'skip' spline in there which will allow the pitman arm to be put on one way. I have checked the steering wheel (skip splined) and the steering shaft ends (skip splined). they can only be put on or clocked one way. Is the pitman arm the same, or am I wasting my time. I can't quite see the splines even with the nut off. Any help, or ideas for an extremely tight pitman arm?

Thanks.

It should be a very tight fit normally takes a lot of force to pull the pitman arm off and yes there is a split spline area on box also from my experiences

Thanks... still don't know if it is 'clocked' or not. Tried some heat and when the pitman arm puller slipped a side on heavy tension, decided to button it back up, put back on the DSS and go from there.
