Very nice shape for bearings that took heavy towing, hard driving, etc.

Pulled due to new crank (eroded by front seal) at 99,600k

Dunno. Early problem. Bought her with 42k from a pal, changing oil at 46k, noticed leak, had seal replaced. and again at 89k. Made the mechanic suspicious, so at the last warranty check up he pulled the seal and found a groove. I will try to post the pic if I have time to find it. I hear if there is any lube on the seal it will do this, mabye an assembly problem? dunno. .

But free parts is free parts. The dealer quoted the crank at $3,000 FOR THE PART

:--)

Isn't there a Redi-sleeve available from Cummins? They're kind of a pain to get em pressed over the crank snout but a heck of a lot cheaper!

That Cummins Redi-sleeve is a piece of crap... ... why not just install the seal in a different place... ... . there's like a 1/4 to play with... ... . yes it works.

Whats wrong with the ready sleeve Jim ?? Very easy to install. I put one on my 89 no more oil leak but I didn't notice anymore power LOL. Maybe thats why you don't like them Jim. Thanks Steve
