He anybody else experienced the sun glaring off the chrome trim ring around the center console? I called my Ram dealer and they do not make a black one. He also said it appears it is not sold separately and is part of the over $300 console. Has anybody had success painting that sucker black? If so, any advice would be appreciated.

I repainted the one on my 2014 truck brown, helped a lot. The 16-17 consoles are different, not sure if the ring comes off as the 2014 did......

I had the same problem--took the ring off and used black spray paint designed for plastic application. Mostly an OK job with minimal runs, however it is much better on the glare. Been in use for a couple years and the paint job is holding up.

Even the non-full console trucks have a chrome release handle that can be blinding. Not a brilliant idea

Mine bothered me more at night than in the daytime. The console light "night light" shines down and reflects off of it.

In the daytime, with certain sun angles, the most annoying glare for me comes off of those two horizontal flat corners on the dash above the radio. The close one gets me big time in the eyes.

YES! I thought I was the only one. I've considered Plasti-Dip to cover it. My wife has a way of holding her cell phone just right so that the sun reflects off her phone and into my eyes too.

I was reluctant to paint mine last year, so I carefully covered it with electrical tape, it is holding up well. I did complain about the amount of shiny surfaces (plastic chrome) in the surveys that they send new owners.

Ha! Brilliant. Well done with the pun.
Leftover bedliner material cuts the glare and minimizes too-large stuff sliding off.

Well, I successfully broke several of the tabs on that crappy little trim ring. Now I'm going to have to find a replacement....damn you Ram for your shiney fake chrome rings!

Even better when the wives are busy texting on the way home while it's dark and the phone screen is blaring off the windows!!

I popped mine out and spray painted it with two coats of black paint. Now I just need to get the bezels out of the door handles and do those as well. I painted it a year and a half ago, no problems so far.

Man, mine did not just "pop off" as some of you guys area saying. I used a plastic interior pry tool and still broke several of the plastic tabs getting that little pos off. Then I find out you can't just buy a new trim ring, it's park of that whole plastic console assay at a cost of around 300 bones. Ouch! Bad mistake on my part.

Yes, have had that issue in Ram's and Dodge Avenger. Seems to be common issue in both Ram and Chrysler.

I used a Camo tape for covering guns to eliminate in my 3500.

my avenger had glare from a chrome trim ring , but I just put on a small piece of window tint that clings in place.
no messy tape or paint and can pull off easy.

One of first things had to do. Almost broke ring trying to pop off. Turns out like 22 tabs melted to their holes in the console.
Had to remove top of console after getting 2 front overtorqued scews out.
Sprayed with plastidip after masked it off.
