Joe, you said most 215 hp plates are set 3/16 back. Where do you measure back from ?
I am installing a 230/605 this morning, should I set it in with the guide, or use the 3/16 measurement ? Like all bombers, I want to get all I can out of it. Thanks Joe.....

The reason I mentioned the "usual" factory placement of the plates is because so many of the P7100 pumps have been "tweaked" some time in the past so you don't know where to put the TST plate for the proper fueling increase. I am referring to the slots on the top of the torque plate used to bolt it down. The slot allows for about 0. 24" total travel frontward and backward, or about 1/8" fore and aft of centered. "Most" 215 hps have the plate about 0. 030" forward of centered, or about 3/16" back from fully forward.

Especially with the 215, plate position is important to keep egt down. If you see more than one set of munch marks on the plate from the washer being tightened down in a couple places along the slot, your plate was probably moved sometime in the past. This is especially likely if one set of marks, the ones corresponding to its position when you removed it, correspond to fully forward. This movement is what pump shops call "high end of specs" etc. It is a bad idea for two reasons. (1) too much egt; (2)if too much rocker travel is allowed and the stop pin is constantly hammered from using the accelerator pedal too much, this stop pin can break. You should always use a torque plate designed either by Bosch or by someone who really knows his stuff. Be careful here. For example I talked with several folks, one who sells plates and posts on this list, told me over the phone all the pumps are the same. NOT TRUE. That is why TST has a completely different line of torque plates for the 215 hp pumps to optimize fueling increases on them.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if some competitors hurry and order more plates from TST so they can copy the 215 series too #ad

I understand now Joe. I put the tst #6 in with the guide they supplied. There were no other marks on the stock plate, it was never tampered with. This is an astounding difference(with the plate). I would not beleive it if I did not experiance it myself. What an awesome difference. I don't pull many loads, a skidsteer every now and then, I just did it to screw with the powerstrokes. Have a nice day and thanks for the reply.
