Alright I am sure most of you have probably heard this question a thousand times, but I am trying to promulgate a plan for my truck. I currently have the stock plate slid with 30 clicks of the star. I want a bit more power but would like to keep the mpg within reason. I also would rather not loose the rest of the drivetrain. Basically I don't want to be passed going uphill by most "other" trucks. So, there it is, what do yall think? What plate and/or any other mods. Not to make this difficult but I don't want to change my turbo and I do have a five speed and don't want to replace the clutch so maybe something mid-range power. Thanks for any and all help. I have looked at so many different articles my head is spinning and I would rather learn from yalls mistakes and not my own.

Ive got a #12 plate (230hp/605), and in stock position, I get better than 23mpg on the highway with the a/c on!

OK wait a minute I am lucky if I get 18 or 19 now with a five spd,3. 54 and 285/75's. What am I doing wrong? I was content until I started reading the posts. Did you get that good of mpg prior to the plate change?

Don't worry about your fuel milage. The plate won't affect your milage any on day to day driving, cruising down the highway, it just gives you the extra power when you need it. You know how when your throttle is halfway and you hammer it and it doesn't feel much different? With the plate, it will actually continue to accelerate instead of that dead throttle response you have now.

Yes, I definately know what you mean, I could tell a big difference when I moved my stock plate and turned the star wheel. I want to know how to get 20+ mpg like some of the other people. I average 16 or 17 in town and some highway. Is something wrong, I've recently replaced the fuel filter and I shimmed up my return valve and I have the appropriate fuel pressure.

Killer59,
Wow, I'm surprised to find another Bomber so close to me. I would recommend you drive over to Normangee and stop at the NAPA auto care center. The owner their, Dean, knows his way around the Cummins engine. He enjoys modifying them too. I'm sure he could answer all your questions and even do the work if you wanted. Real nice guy.

Is Dean the older red headed guy? I believe he is the owner. I will definately go talk to him the next time I am over there. I live here in madisonville but I work in college station (fire dept. ) If you need anything just holler, I'm there every three days for work. And thanks for the advice.
