Not to rub it in(no really), while some are running snowblowers, we are at the dunes in Glamis CA. Hammering around here is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on

The 6.4 did better than I expected with the trailer loaded. I need to put it on a scale, but I am guestimating 22K combined. First tank, relatively flat 8 mpg. The second leg is Hwy 78 west of I-10, and it is a roller coaster, so definitely working harder.

Nice! That looks like fun. I would like to try that with my old sled puller:) 8 mpg is not bad at all, the low profile rig is doing it's thing.

Congratulations on your first trip out with the new rig. Looks like you are having a blast and that's what RVing is all about.

No need to complain about that 8 mpg. For a trailer of that size with a gas engine, that's darn good. I'd really be interested in seeing you CAT scale #'s. I'm betting that you are heavier than you think.

To wrap this up, the last leg of the trip averaged 7.49 mpg, no surprise given the elevation change. Interesting that the mpg is about the same as pulling it empty from OK.

All in all, a successful first RV experience. I did learn that I need to invest in a more efficient shower head, and faucet aerators. It would be difficult to be more miserly with the water than I was, and still used too much for a short solo trip. That's my next chore. Also want to verify venting on the waste tanks, as they drained a bit slower than I expected. I am using Happy Camper additive, and emptied the remaining fresh water into the black tank before dumping.

I have a lot of great memories in Glamis, love the look on people faces when a 8,000lbs Cummins is passing there side by side to the top of Olds hill!

Don't turn the faucets on any more than needed for flow, get wet, shut shower head off, soap up, shower head on and repeat...

Dishes, they chew up water.....lots of it....

We can dry camp for three days and live comfortably. That's two people....a total of six hot showers, dish washing and routine toilet flushing. 40 Gallon tank as I recall.

That's the thing, I used paper plates, cleaned pan and utensils mostly with paper towels, used handy wipes for cleaning hands, and took as close to GI shower as possible, given the shower wand supplied does not have a shutoff, so it does take a little time to regulate the temp when you turn the valves back on. And no shampoo required for buzz-cut I was really bummed to see the water level drop.

I'll definitely start with the shower head, as I suspect it's the main culprit. I have the other two aerators out, but haven't been able to match them locally, one is stamped 1.8 gpm, the other has no markings. I know 1.5 is common, but I have seen some 1.0 gpm, also.

Exactly what I am looking at. I have to verify the size of the hose connection, as it does not have a shower arm coming out of the wall the hose connects directly to the shower valve. Still probably 1/2 pipe, but proprietary oddball stuff is everywhere.

Mine is probably the same, the shower hose connects directly to the mixing valve block.

If this is how the entire winter is going to be I may be headed West sooner than later.....third storm in two weeks and the stuff has been nasty to drive on...almost two hours last night traveling 70 miles from Houlton to Lincoln, snow was just like grease.....
