Haven't had much hammer time on the anvil lately so I made some Christmas gifts for the family and friends.

The roses are really easy to make, the leaves however take me some time. I can bend up the roses in minutes but 6 leaves took about an hour to finish. If you Google "blacksmith steel roses", you'll surprised how these start out. To make the rose flower itself, all you really need is a OA setup or handheld bottle type torch.

The bottle openers are a little tricky. I use 3/4" x 5/16" flat bar and drift a 9/16" hole in one end and then move to the horn tip on the anvil to forge open the drift hole.

The triangles are pretty simple but if decor is wanted, you have to carefully measure and make small punch marks to keep it even around the triangle. The twists I made here is done by slotting the square stock on all 4 sides and then twisting it. The pineapple twist takes some practice but are fun to make once you figure it out. I start by slotting 4 sides, twist it 4 times, then hammer down the twists almost flat. Then I slot it again on 4 side and un-twist it 2 times.

Nice work....hope that you have a son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter or other neighborhood youngster who you can share the skills with!!!

Appreciate the high fives. I wish people would pay for my time as I could make some side money. Unfortunately, I haven't met a rich blacksmith yet.
