We have a problem w/ our '89 farm truck. Dad was driving along and it just quit, as if it was shut off with the key. As it sits in the yard now, buzzers and lights work, however the guages do not move at all nor the wait to start light come on... The solonoid does not click either, virtually dead in the water but there is battery power. The most logical for this type of shutdown would be some blown fuse, but I have not found anything. If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Chris:

I think you would get a little better results if you put another post in the first generation forums. As for your delimma, I don't know what to tell you, could it maybe some computer part? I don't know what's computrized on the 1989-1993's. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

thanks, we have thus far located the smoked fuseable link... now we are trying to determine the cause. I'll let you know.

FWIW: computer or no computer... . unless you have a 24-V ISB... . you don't even need the dern thing to make your truck run.

The '96 and up guys might like it so their auto trannies shift, though... Otherwise they get a nifty 'limp home' mode where the transmission acts funny and if I'm not mistaken disallows overdrive... . at least that's what the F*rd and GM trannies do.....
