  Trying to check the adjustment of my TV trans. cable as per the manual and I broke the plastic clip that attaches to the ball stud at the engine!! I damn near soiled myself:{ Leave it to DC to put a 10 cent plastic connector on what will probably be a very $$$ expensive cable. Has anyone else broken this trying to get it off?? It broke too easy... . probably fatigued from the hot/cold cycling in the engine compartment. I removed the broken part from the stud and glued it back on. I'm waiting for the epoxy to cure before reassembling it. I hope it lasts till I get a new one. Wonder what this is going to cost?

What will happen if I drive and the TV cable is not attached... . (no throttle valve action)???? OK transmission gurus... . I really need some advice here.

I need an answer to this! Can I drive the truck with the TV cable not attached?? Someone with transmission knowledge... . PLEASE respond!:(

DO NOT DRIVE!!!

If driving your truck requires opening the throttle you should not drive it without the cable working. (Which I imagine it would. ) Trans damage could result in short order due to no line rise. The cable is not real expensive. I agree it is a bit of a wimpy design for such a tough truck. Replacement is not real difficult and before install familiarize yourself with how the clip releases. Makes it easier when adjusting. One word of advice, do not use a tool to release clip. I use only my finger tips. Too easy to break. Hope this helps.

Don't feel bad, DC uses real cheap plastic. I broke the locking clip on a 03 2500 mass airflow sensor on the intake hose to the turbo. No tools, just followed the proper unlocking proceedure... . SNAP:--)

inarush76..... any advice on adjusting the new cable? Should I just align the center of the clip to the ball stud like it says in the service manual?

The proper adjustment for the cable is there should be no slack or tension in the cable. As soon as the throttle linkage moves the bellcrank on the transmission should move. I know a few guys tension the cable up a bit to rise the line pressure a bit, help to prevent slippage. I use a pressure gauge in the center port to confirm proper adjustment.
