Please help - Smarty Jr driver and downloads

OK, I'm pretty good with computers but I must be a complete idiot today...



I just got my Smarty Jr from Mr Fedex and I want to download the latest software and am having no luck.



I looked at the FAQs, download and driver instructions, etc on the MADs site. I looked at "contact us" and it says they are in Italy. Is there anyone I can call and get live help with?#@$%!



It talks about the best driver in file "C2XX Drivers" but I cant get it work. I also downloaded the 7zip program.



Why doesn't this thing come with a CD for the drivers??



I have Windows XP.



Any help would be appreciated.

From MADS: Under Tools,,, download and install CDM_2. 00. 00. zip You need to unpack this file, since it is zipped. (7-Zip works on any ZIP file... )



What I would do next, plug the smarty into your computer USB, and when windows finds the hardware, point it to the unpacked directory for the CDM_2. 00. 00. zip location.

Once, Windows is happy with this driver, you can run SmartyUSB. exe and Windows should see your Tuner.

did you check to se what software is in it? from my understanding they shuld have the new flash to fix the 03 auto trans indicater.

Just did this tonight... didnt have any issues... . here is how I did it. . hope it helps. .

from the Jr Downloads page I downloaded SJRV503DD211B. 7z, Smarty USB. exe, and CDM_2. 00. 00. zip to the desktop. I then went to the 7zip page and downloaded and installed there program. Then I unzipped the CDM file, and then plugged the Smarty into the computer. I manually told it where the file was for the hardware install. Then I opened the 7zip program (7zFM) and unzipped the SJRV503DD211B. 7z, file to the desktop. . I opened the Smarty USB. exe and sent the SJRV503DD211B. smt file... takes about 20 minutes.

I thought they were shipped with the latest programming already.



edit: Just did some searching on MADS sight and the update is for 03 auto transmission owners only nothing has changed for others.

I also thought they were shipped with the latest programs. When I received mine I took it to the truck followed the instructions and installed the #2 program (Towing) and everything worked perfectly. Truck runs fantastic! I didn't do anything with the computer or any downloads, didn't need to.

As far as I can tell, I may never have to download any updates, I am pefectly satisfied with the way it runs now, I don't have any problems at all.

Well I got mine today and it had Ver. 5. 03D Data 2. 10B, current is Ver. 5. 03D Data 2. 11B... not much different, but I still updated... why not... The "suitcase" is shrink wrapped, so I am not sure if Bob updates them or not.

Yeah, I thought that was the case... but couldn't find it so I just did it. Can't hurt right



Loving it so far... pulling my RV home today I tried to get the EGT's up and only saw 925*. . . thats AWESOME!!!

OK, I got the driver installed.



Now, I'm trying to download the software. I'm pretty sure I need to use the downloader file and then the actual download. This is not intuitive at all.



Do I need to save the download file to the hard drive and then use the downloader file? Do I need to unzip the download, first?



Sorry for being such a pain on this, but why can't this be "easy" like every other download on the internet???



I'm really concerned that I'm going to do something wrong to the Smarty Jr.

thou I found out the update is only for 03 HO's... I still did it anyways.

I am thinking hard about purchasing the Smarty Jr. I was looking at their home page and didn't see a link or anything else for downloading newer software. Is that information given after the purchase? Just trying to do my home work before I bite the bullet. Thanks!
