Taking a Trip

I am converting from a Prodigy to the Jordan. I think I can figure out the mechanical part of the hookup, but need help with the electircal part. I am not very electrically-minded, so please be specific with your answers. The white ground wire seems pretty straight forward. Just put a crimp-on lug and find a screw under the dash. I see where there are already other wires grounded there. Thought I would just add to one of them. NOW..... Where do you guys get the power? How do you tap into the wire? Do I need an inline fuse?

How do I find the brake wire? Do I have to go all the way to the brakelights? Surely, there is a wire under the dash somewhere, but where?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. So would pictures if possible. Any pics in anyones reader's rigs? I looked at Fiverbobs pics, but still not sure how to find the proper wires to hook to.

Thanks guys.

Do you have the brake controller pigtail that came with your truck (assuming it has the towing package)? It should have the wires labeled by function. So should the Jordan. As you've probably noticed, you can't match the wires by color. If you have the pigtail, just match the B- (ground), B+ (power, or battery) and trailer brake wires by function and plug the controller pigtail in under the left side of the dash just like the Prodigy. The brake light wire in the pigtail remains unused since the Jordan doesn't need it - just tape it off.

Good luck - you'll really enjoy the Jordan once you get it set up to your preferences.

Make a detailed wiring diagram of what you do for future trouble shooting. The memory goes after awhile. Sure glad I have diagrams. :D

Solder all conections and use RTV under all heatshrinks.
