Folks... we screwed up. We were not aware that the Warnings system was not notifying users of rule violation warnings when the warning was a "custom" warning.

Due to this, some people may have been warned more than once about an issue, we thought they were ignoring our warnings and some users may have been given a timeout as a result. This is embarrassing to us, undoubtedly caused grief to some of those it happened to, others to think we were taking harsh action without prior warnings, and other misunderstandings.

The Politics forum is being turned back on for all TDR members (magazine subscribers). Any TDR member has access to it. We do this because we cannot easily identify those who were properly notified of violations vs those who were not, so it's best to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. If you're a TDR member and you don't see it, let us know.

Consider this a clean slate for warnings moving forward. I am asking folks to be as civil to each other as you can. The political atmosphere in the USA is volatile, so if you try to deliberately provoke/attack other members rather than debate the issues, we'll have to step in. And frankly, I hate doing that!

That will have to be on a case by case basis, to determine if it was because of this issue with notifications. There are some who clearly knew because I had direct conversations with them over and over again until I knew the situation could not be salvaged.

Basically,

- Those who were determined to go down in flames I don't think it's a good idea.

- But others... we'd welcome back.

And those we'd welcome back, if they were paying members even if we refunded them, we'd comp the remaining subscription they had left at the time!

Anyone who's contacted me about their account, I won't be able to get back to you until tomorrow. It's been a 12 hour workday, and I can't reasonably keep going.

It looks like it might be a couple of days to catch up. Monday work-loads are normally high here from weekend emails. Between that and everything going on yesterday, I didn't realize how far behind I am - 74 emails in my inbox this morning, plus my regular work.
