Just wanted to know if its possible to put a plow on a 2500 CTD w/o plow prep on the truck?I have a chance to get a 7 1/2 western plow for a good price and would like to put it on my truck if its not a big hassel, its a long box

extended cab with auto trans.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Not positive but I don't think that dodge offered snow plow passage then. I know in 95 they didn't and would void warranty if installed. I've had a Myers on mine for about 7 years. No problems. The plow set ups are heavy and I try not to leave it hooked up after done plowing.

The front springs would be lighter and maybe the transmission cooler would need a little help. If you take it easy you shouldn't have any problems. A transmission temp gauge would be a good idea.

This is a misstatement, my 95 has the snow plow package. But I am sorry, I don't know exactly what the difference is.

The difference between my truck and a friends very similar 01 with the plow package is one spring. My truck has the 039 and 046 springs, his has the 046 and 047 springs. That is the one and only difference.

Maybe it's different with the automatic's??

Thanks for the info guys, its just going to be used for doing a small parking lot and it wont be left on when i'm not using it so i will see if i can get it to work on my truck,

it was off a Bronco so i will have to buy the correct mounting brackets.

My 96 came with snow plow prep. That package was supposed to give me a 241HD transfer case (which it did), additional transmission cooling (not sure) and heavy duty front springs (not sure if the Diesel package already had HD springs in it). If I remember correctly (it's been 10 years since I ordered it), in order to get snow plow prep I had to get the trailer tow package as well for what ever reason.

I don't know if it helps any, but my '97 has the plow prep package. According to the window sticker (yes, I saved it) the snow plow prep packace cost $185. 00 and consisted of extra duty front suspension, trans. overheat warning light, and heavy duty transfer case.

A recommendation made to me, which I followed, was to install a high performance valve body on the transmission to allow better & more fluid flow to help prevent transmission overheating. I've got 98. 5K on the truck now with no transmission problems, except leaky fluid lines which were changed.

I just looked at my options and my truck has the 241HD transfer case, trailer tow group, and the camper special group,so i should have a hd trans cooler already my only isuue might be the springs.

To positively find out if there is a heavier spring used on the CTD's, I'd contact a local Dodge dealer & look up the part #'s and see if there are any differences with & W/O the plow prep package. You can also have him run your VID # to see if it has the plow pack since it has all the other stuff you mentioned.

i think snowplow prep also comes with cab lights,,,, Depending on which meyer set you have i may have the right brackets for the truck,,, I had a plow on my 97,, then moved it to my 95 half ton gasser, (talk about over loaded) because i didnt want to psh snow with my 01,,, I had to buy new brackets to make it work on the half ton,, PM me if you need the brackets and will talk about price and shipping,, they were only on the truck 6 months and never pushed any snow
