Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Plug in Block heater

The weather in Northern Michigan is getting colder and it is time to start plugging in the mighty CTD. I have seen over the road trucks and lots of snow moving equipment plugged in for about a week now with out any movemet. How long is safe to plug our trucks in for. Overnight, a day, a week? Any info would be great. I dont want to burn my truck down. Thanks Dave.

Block Heater

I have been plugging mine in for about a week now (Chicago Area)

I have it plugged into a timer, so it only goes on for about five hours a night, and goes off when I leave for work.
