How long can you leave the block warmer plugged in? I plugged it in last night and drove my car today instead (didn't want to get the new wheels all dirty:eek: )!! Can it stay plugged in for long intervals???

Thanks

Steve

I use a timer that kicks the juice on 4 hours before I leave for work.

This morning is was 6 (SIX) degrees when I left the house.

Sure was nice having it warmed up that little bit before I left out!

Bluequad,

I am no expert but in the diesel generator world we leave the block heaters going 24/7 because you never know when they are going to be needed. Most have a t-stat but the heaters are usually much larger. At 750 watts in this weather you will be fine. No need to worry. I drove my "other" car today too because of the Salt. They sure lay it down thick in MD don't they!

Yeah they do, and those brand new Centerlines and BFG's I put on yesterday, would look very nasty after a ride in this mess!! So you all are suggesting that other than the electric bill, the truck should be fine plugged in for extended periods?

Done it for weeks on end

I went to Saudi Arabia in August 00 through Nov 00. The truck was plugged in from early October till I got home cuz the wife didn't want to drive it. I told her she had to drive it at least 50 miles a week, (one round-trip to her job) but she told me afterward she only started and unplugged it twice during that time frame. Everything worked fine when I got home so IMO, the block heater isn't going to wear out anytime soon.
