My buddy just bought an 03 - duallie, 4X4 - he tells me there is no heater plug - what gives? How much are they to add.

Mine has one. It's in the same place as in the past. I assumed they were standard, or maybe standard in a certain trim level.

Fireman

It's disguised! It has a cover covering the prongs. It's located just inboard of the right headlight, right alongside of the heat exchangers. I was looking for mine the first time the dark and it took me several minutes to find it.

It's standard equip.

I don't think they are standard on the SLT. I went with a friend to help him finalize the deal on his new 2500 CTD and it did not have a plug. The stealer wanted $300 bucks to add one. My friend told them that it would be free or he was walking. The stealer was pretty hungry and ended up throwing it in to close the deal. My truck came with it but I believe it was listed under the options.

If you build a truck on Dodges website and you select a diesel it automatically adds the block heater so I would say it's standard equipment.

I just bought my 1 ton last weekend and I looked on the sticker to see if it had a heater, it did not say anything on the sticker. I had no idea until I popped the hood and saw it hiding. Not that I need it, but it is nice to have.

I'll bet it is their, you just aren't finding it. Open the hood and look by the right head light.

On a side note it was -15 here this morning and not thinking it was going to get that cold over night I didn't plug it in. well the new Cummins took right off no problem, sounded a little mad about it for a second but no problem.

I extended the plug to the back bumper via a marine generator inlet. This way I don't have to open the hood and if I forget and drive away it just unplugs it. You'll have to excuse the dirty truck.

:D

Found mine (with help from TDR), what a difference in the morning :D

I also found a digital timer at Home Depot, lets me have different settings for each day of the week, easy override, etc... .

I just disconnected mine from the first two "hangers" and pulled the plug out under the hood. It sits on the bumper and comes out under the hood about 4 - 6 inches. I don't have to lift the hood to plug it in and I'll just put it back in it's original spot once spring comes around.

I ran an extension cord attached to a timer across my garage ceiling and let it hang down right in front of the truck. I will admit I'm afraid I'll drive away one day without unplugging it, though and I really like that setup you have.

that's what i did as well... i'm not worried that i will forget to unplug it before leaving though... . i have to step over the big blue wire to get to my truck... ;)
