HELP - no trailer brakes

GVW #'s on peoples trucks

Ok. I've found the factory trailer brake socket on my '98. Do I have to take the main wiring connector apart to plug in the trailer control? 'Cause it doesn't look like there's enough room between the wiring harness and the socket to get the plug to the socket.

Now if I could get the socket off the main harness bracket I wouldn't have a problem. But I can't tell how to release it laying up under the dash...

On both my 1996 and 2002 trucks, I was able to work the harness out of the way just enough to get the controller plug into the socket. It took a few minutes of pulling and tugging on the harness to work a little slack into it, but it finally gave just enough to let me plug the controller in.
