Oo. At approximately 10:30 this morning I jumped in with both feet. Oo. Ordered a black 3500 dual wheel Sport quad cab HO Laramie with slate interior. All options except the drop in bed liner. Spraying that in when I get it. What the heck, you only live once and it was just a matter of time before the better half's mood changed. Oo. Oo.

I am selling it privately. But they did say that it was worth 19,000 Canadian or rougly 13,000 US. I think I can do better than that by selling it myself as it is in really good condition.

CB,

Did your dealer have prices yet?

My dealer dosen't have prices and he told me 2 weeks ago that there was a mix up in the order codes. When he checked the code for DRW on the computer with the code in his code book the DRW came up SRW. There was no code for SRW. There was another buyer there with me that wanted a DRW and didn't care what it cost, but wouldn't order until the code thing was straightened out.

I sure would hate to have a SRW show up when I thought I ordered DRW.

You know what? I just thought about this. How could my dealer have a code book for the 2003s? I'll bet he was looking in the 2002 code book. There wouldn't be a SRW in there.

Oh Well, you might want to check just to make sure.

I thought a SPORT model would not be available. I ordered my 2003 3500 quad long bed dually 3. 73 HO SLT Plus 6 Speed and I sat at the dealer for half an hour to see if they were going to build a SPORT model. If you are buying a 2002 than never mind but maybe the dealer is basing their pricing and option on the 1500 and as far as I know No cummins is in there.

jdiebold my dealer had the program to build a 3500 and at the start when you choose the model it has

2500

3500 SRW

3500 DRW

So I guess it would be idiot proof. Well now you scared me I am going home to check.

Sport??

The dealer had the prices on Monday of this week. He gave me a copy of the order sheets with the codes and prices by fax on Tuesday. And yes I ordered a 2003 Sport (Code AGG) with dual rear wheels and a Cummins HO six speed and 4. 10 axle. The single rear wheel is an option on the code sheet (Code AR9) and provides a credit on the dual rear wheel so there is no separate sheet for the SRW models in the long box. The short box has a separate sheet and is obviously only available in SRW with diesel. Mind you this is Canada but I can't see the code sheet being any different for the US except for the prices.

Dealer and delivery date

The dealer is near Windsor and I have no delivery date at this time. However I expect I won't see this thing until early October at the soonest.

So I hope this clears some people idea that it is possible to order, if you don't believe me or if your dealers say it isn't then call Hendricks Dodge in NC.

And Casey Congrats on your truck it will be kicking aS$

Congrats Paesan

Sounds pretty well like mine, except I ordered a two wheel drive with a 4. 10 axle to get the max towing capacity. I was hoping to get the Graphite that was available on the 2002 1500s but it was not available on the 3500 for 2003. So I chose black like my current truck. Black always looks good when it is clean. :D Casey

I already ordered a 2003 SLT Quad Cab, the SLT Plus package, 1 ton with the duallys, coded DR8H42. With the sport package, which I did not order you are limited to only 4 paint choices & the color I wanted was not amongst the ones mentioned. I got all the options available except the air dam and bed liner. They also had another choice on the radio that has not been mentioned. IThey have a AM/FM CD with the 7 speakers and a 6 disk in-dash changer. I couldn't find this in any other literature except the order program at the dealership when we ordered the truck. It shows I should receive it Oct 11. Heh Heh Heh, can't wait!!Oo.

only 4 colors avalable for sport package sucks

that does suck that there is only the 4 colors avalable in the sport package. last year, i think you could get every color in sport.

i don't want black, flame red, silver or graphite. i hope i can get the darker blue or green or a nicer shade of red [i like that inferno red you can get in the neon and minivans] in the sport package in 04 when i hopefully order one. .

Frustration

Early last week the salesman called and told me that the ordering system would not take my truck the week before. Something to do with the heated seats and that the system told him to try again last Friday. I told him order it without the heat, no problem. This time the system rejected the order because of the dual wheels. Huh?? They were going to call Chrysler to find out the real reason why the system keeps rejecting my order but so far I have heard nothing. This has never happened before and I put the deposit down almost two weeks ago and still the truck is not ordered. I am not even sure if these guys know what they are talking about.

Frustration ended, I hope

Well, guess what? They called Chrysler and the issue was that my truck was only available in single rear wheels. The lady at the other end of the phone suggested that the dealer "just put on the extra two wheels on when the truck comes in. " :--) Duh. Chrysler says it was a computer glitch. Anyway, the truck has been ordered and the order comes back as good and ready to schedule. Got the printout this morning and everything looked good. Finally we got to first base. Oo.

Got mine ordered on 7/31 to be built on 8/20.

I am surprised by the short time between order place and build date. Must have something to do with their line schedules.

HD trucks usually build "faster" at the beginning of a model year because most dealers don't have a need to stock many of them. Thus, most of the ordered trucks are customer orders. The 1500s usually come out as dealer stock first at the beginning of model year production, then customer orderes. By mid year, the 1500 has usually caught up to about the same turnaround time.

My dealer usually has about 20 1500s, 6-8 2500s and no 3500s in stock at any given time. Of the 2500s, there are usually just 2-3 Cummins-powered units.

And, customer orders come before dealer orders. I was surprised, though, that there aren't more customer orders. Maybe that is why Dodge is doing the $500 pre-order certificates. I'm trying to get more info on that from my dealer as I have not received one in the mail. Has anyone else received one?

Preorder certificate

I don't have one but I want one really bad Oo. Oo.
